so, apparently not Dragon's Dogma 2.   They say it is an online game, and seems to have the scent of a survival horror on it from the audio in the trailer.

Very curious about this game, going to have to wait for TGS to learn the real details about it apparently though.

Apparently the dungeons and even monsters to some degree are procedurally generated.

looking forward to more info as to what they mean by online multiplayer.  it looks like the gameplay video is showing a single player game, so does that mean it is solo friendly or will grouping be required?  hopefully they answer that at TGS.

Oh god, it sounds like they're pulling an Assassin's creed with you being "in New York in 2094" and reading the memories from objects.   Head meets wall

Yeah that looks dumb, but I'm still in for co-op Dark Souls/Dragons Dogma

I've got a theory that you aren't visiting people's memories, but perhaps their nightmares, diving deep into the darkest recesses of their minds. After all, there's no historical context to travel to here, unlike in AC. It could be cool if something like a dragon maybe represents a person's deepest fears, trying to defend his mind from something (a memory or realization, perhaps). It would also make the title a bit more profound.

not sure I like the thought of it.  Was hoping for a more structured and real version of Dragon's Dogma's world.

Yeah, this is exactly what I was hoping for as well.  It doesn't sound like that's what this is at all.

At least monsters will randomly grow fur or be made of liquid.

One heck of a dark game. It looks like it has potential though. I won't get excited yet.

This trailer is probably going to be indicative of all the particle and vertex mesh effects coming this generation. Expect lots more crazy effects like this, and the stuff seen in Infamous.

You know, at first I was put off by the Assassin's Creed style plot, but you know what, AC has gone off the rails. Could be interesting to see what Capco--no I just can't finish the sentence. This is Capcom we're talking about here, as silly as the AC series got, Capcom is going to find 3 more cliffs to jump off after it jumps off the same one AC did.

So apparently this is going to be free to play.  So that with the random dungeons makes this seem like Dark Souls X Warframe.

And there's the final nail in the coffin of my interest in this game frown

We will see how it goes.

Might have worked better to go with a Guild Wars style up front cost, no subs, but lots of expansion content. It's practically the same thing, but without the stigma.

I wish I could trust Capcom to do something like that.

It depends on the monetization.  I spend a lot of time and little money in f2p games these days so it really doesn't bother me though I can see how someone looking for a sprawling single player RPG might be disappointed.  Instead we are getting a co-op dungeon crawler with random loot and dungeons which sounds pretty ok to me.

Let's not forget EA and the like have started loading $60 games with micro transactions as well.  Dead Space 3 for instance  ME3 multiplayer had the gambling real money on packs angle, and nevermind the Fifa nonsense that led to so many xbox accounts getting hacked.

This. If the pricing model is decent, it won't be a problem. Warframe is an example of a game that has tons of content you can access without ever paying a penny. There is nothing gated behind pay walls in that game other than cosmetics and inventory space (many have criticized the latter, but I think it is perfectly reasonable). Some other things are a bit of a pain to acquire, but they can be done.

Card Hunters is another recent example of a game where the vast majority of the content is accessible to free players.

F2P doesn't have to mean energy timers and pay walls.
