Just another reason why not to buy a PS3. 2nd qtr of 2008 might see another price drop on the console

LOL. Another joins the Sony Failboat.
It's really difficult to imagine what else could go wrong for Sony.

Just another reason why not to buy a PS3. I wouldn't go that far. I would much rather they wait, get it perfected, whatever, than release a pile of poo that just gives the anti-PS3 people more ammunition. If it isn't ready, it isn't ready, no biggie, play some of the other 50 games between now and Q2 2008 that are gonna be just as good or better.

They could just delay it to next fall now for the big pile of X-mas money. Do we even know what the big holiday titles will be in 2008?

Heh, I'm not surprised, because for some reason I thought it was already confirmed to be delayed until summer or holiday 2008 anyway. I've been following the game industry too long; I see most big-title delays coming from miles away.

Oh well. It was delayed for a reason, and it doesn't hurt me any waiting for a polished, wonderful product.
I'll just keep playing Eye of Judgment, Resistance, and Ratchet & Clank (once I grab it) now, as well as grab Uncharted, LittleBigPlanet, Unreal Tournament 3, and INFAMOUS before mid-year next year. Boy, why did I ever consider getting a PS3 before mid-year next year?

Good for you, but really other than Little Big Planet, none of those games interest me. I would be getting a PS3 mostly for the great rpg's. I can get other iterations of those game (actually better) on the 360. Plus I get a TON more good games to play. None of those games is a system seller, and in the big picture for Sony it's puts them even further behind the 8-ball. I've felt for a while that they needed one other really big system selling game to go with GTA IV so people would at least consider getting a PS3 and not a 360, now If I don't have a next gen console yet come GTA IV release and I look at the two available libraries, there is no question which system I get. Don't get me wrong, at some point I WILL buy a PS3, the question is, will I buy one in the next 3-6 months or will I wait an entire year, which I believe Sony can't afford users to say on a large scale. They need those new buyers NOW because the gap (at least in the U.S.) is getting bigger and bigger.

Bad news for Sony. I think they are starting to realize they are in trouble with the PS3. No amount of spin can change it.
They need some big time exclusives to drive sales. Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, etc are nice games. But not what they really need.
They are going to get murdered this holiday season. I don't think anything can change that now. And I'm pretty sure they know it.

midway are also having problems....stranglehold we know about(30th novemeber release date here in the UK...compared to end of september i think for 360)...and now they may have to delay PS3 version of blacksite midways problemsEDIT:oh,and i cant see MGS4 being out in April, the same month as GTA4...i dont think that would be a wise move, for both Konami and Rockstar

Only games that would compete with GTA IV are Halo, Mario and a Final Fantasy game. Nothing else comes close. GTA IV WILL sell systems, and it's looking more and more like it will be 360's.

Why? Lower price of entry + Larger library of games means that if people are going to buy a system for GTA it's more likely to be 360. I'm even discounting DLC because I think most people who are just getting around to buy a next gen system for GTA probably don't know much about what DLC even means.

Because there are simply a lot more good games out for the 360 then the PS3. When a new next gen console purchaser walks into Best Buy to get a system and GTA IV, he will see Resistance, Rachet, and a couple other games to go with that PS3. He will also see Halo 3, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Lost Odessey, and a ton of other games to buy. The tendency is to go with the system with the great games already in hand. Don't get me wrong, there are some great multi platform games that will be out like COD4, Virtua Fighter, and of course all the sports games, but the 360 crushes the PS3 as far as exclusives right now.

That sucks for MGS4. I just recently watched a trailer for the game and was surprised at how poorly the graphics have aged, 6 months later isn't going to help that cause.

That, is a pretty weak reason.

These games all look excellent: Ratchet and Clank Heavenly Sword Folklore Eye of Judgment Uncharted Resistance: Fall of Man Haze Warhawk <edit> For me a system must have 3 excellent exclusives before I'll invest my money. Ratchet and Clank, Eye of Judgment, and Folklore have "green-lighted" the PS3 in my opinion. Just waiting on the $399 version to hit stores.

Madden 360 was the best selling version this year. Alot of them have already switched. Or will this holliday season.

I've noticed this is said allot, like whenever talk comes up for reasons to justify a PS3. Pretty much its said every time one of these threads comes up. Not saying it isn't true but when that feature is one of the few good tings you can say about the system its pretty easy to see why its doing to badly. Hint: In case people don't get at what I'm saying...its about the games.

As a game player, it currently fails rather spectacularly, although I will finally get Ratchet and Clank on Friday since Gamefly is done screwing me, so for 10-12 brief hours, the PS3 will be a superb game player

I will eventually get a PS3 when a must own game comes out but for now this just lets me know I dont have to save any money for a PS3 till next year at the earliest. I cant believe all their killer games are still no where near release, I would like to play some of the PS3 games but nothing on the system or coming out this year is enough to make me own it, although I wish I knew someone who had a PS3 and ratchet and clank just to be able to try it out

I still have no idea why it keeps selling so well after its release with very little new to play on it. I am debating on whether to keep or sell my Wii since I dont use it much anymore since its more of a social system and I tend to use my friends Wii when we play since he has a 65" TV and I am stuck with my tiny 50" TV but I want to see how the olympics game and mario galaxy are

What's funny to me is I saw that it was delayed to spring and thought "Isn't that when they said they would release it anyway?"
I don't know why, I always had it pegged for an april-may release.
I have a PS3 and a Wii and anticipate having more games than I can play over the next 6 months. I'm also in the "gotta have 3-5 good titles" camp, and it hit that point a long time ago, that's why I bought it.
I'm really most excited about uncharted, Ratchet & Clank, and UT3. I think those 3 will move a good number of systems.

normally i would agree....but this is just starting to look a little pathetic for SONY...people who invested in the machine, deserve more...okay,so MGS is delayed to make it 'better' for the customer(aren't all delays for that?)but that doesnt stop others jumping on there..this may even green light other companies to admit defeat and do the same...good in the long run, because we want a game that works.....but right now...euugh

Ratchet and Clank, Eye of Judgment, Uncharted, Haze, and I think there's 1 more exclusive that I'm forgetting, but maybe not.
Then there's all the multiplatform games, all the major ones are getting a PS3 release including the big ones like Guitar Hero 3 and Rock Band. The PS3 is finally getting a solid library this holiday season, and it's about as many games as the 360 had a year ago.
I don't think that's pathetic at all. Sure, a game is delayed and that's bad for the PS3, but good for us gamers as it means more polish for the game.
But saying Sony is dead because one game gets delayed, but is still exclusive.
Actually, I think one of the big reasons why MGS4 has been delayed is Home and Firmware 2.0 integration. I recall Home is still getting a lot of work and won't be ready until April '08. That's close to Q2 2008, the with MGS supposed to be one of the big name exclusives to the PS3, utilizing all the new fancy features, it'd be a bad idea to release the game without full home integration, especially so for what we hope is a more stable and unified multiplayer matching system for MGS online.

I know it may seem that I am jumping on Sony, and maybe I am a bit, but only really because in the end I want them to be successful. I just don't see a boatload of jrpg's being released on the 360 and that is one of my favorite genre of games. I want to see a next gen secret of mana game, final fantasy tactics, kingdom hearts, xenosaga, star ocean, dragon quest and Suikoden. But I don't think it will happen if Sony does not get their act together, or they will be put on a Wii and I won't get the truly next gen experience I wanted out of those titles.

The 360 had a library of good to great games building up in its first spring of release with titles like GRAW and Oblivion. Its taken the PS3 a full year to get something worth buying like Ratchet & Clank. Ohh and if your trying to tout something like Eye of Judgment as some must have game that screams "This is why you need a PS3" then all I can say is I know why the sales have been so poor for the system...

My frustration with Sony has to do with the fact that my Playstation and Playstation 2 were my favorite consoles. It pisses me off to see how they've squandered so much goodwill. I don't want them to fail. It's just the opposite: I want them to succeed but really don't see any way for them to dig themselves out of the hole they are in and that pisses me off because it didn't have to be like this. Blu-Ray's great for movie buffs but I wanted a focus on next-generation gaming and not the increased price that a BD drive added.
