Looking at the photomode pics people are putting up and it's really tempting me to grab it again despite having a bunch of other unfinished games to play...

The shooting feels better than any other naughty dog game so far. 60 def makes a huge difference.

I grabbed this title again as well as a PS4 last night. Thanks to EBgames offering it for $25 when I traded in the PS3 version. thumbsup

I only played up until
Spoiler for Hiden:
they meet Joel's brother/friend? the one with all the booby traps
on the PS3 and I'm looking forward to jumping back in after reading the last few posts.
There was something 'just not right' with me and the controller/shooting on the PS3. Granted I'm more used to the xbox controller but all this talk makes me more excited to pick this up and get back in.

Yeah, the photo mode is pretty ridiculous (in a good way). It's a mini-game unto itself.

The framerate is odd. It's not a rock-solid 60, I noticed dips - likely into the low/mid 50s- during some explosions in the opening gameplay. Also, the motion of the characters during cutscenes seems too fast, the way movies in 48fps do.

I'm not complaining, I'm fine minor dips that don't affect the gameplay (like making it harder to aim, etc.), and I'm sure I'll get used to the motion in the cutscenes. It's certainly a beautiful game and benefits from the higher resolution. I'm looking forward to actually finishing the game this time around after putting it down half way through on the PS3.

Yeah I'd agree fps is probably between 50 and 60 the whole time. Sure beats 30 or below. The cutscenes are different at first but I like them at 60. To me at least , not as jarring as a high hrz tv . That looks "fake" to me , where this just looks like a higher fps. Can't wait to play more tonight!

They should!  It's more mind boggling when they have people leave to go to places like Infinity Ward!

Yeah. As I may have mentioned, I never played this before as my ps3 shit the couch slywink before this came out. I loved uncharted , but this is on a whole new level! God bless naughty dog .

Yeah I played some more last night and it grows on me with every game session. The absolute best thing about this game so far is how utterly dangerous the combat feels. I never feel safe, I never feel like I have the upper hand, I never feel like I have enough ammo - it's super stressful in a good way.  icon_biggrin

Yeah, that sequence really sucked. Just figure out a path to run away without getting caught. You'll have a really hard time trying to fight your way out of there.

For anyone who hasn't finished this yet...you might be missing the best game ever made. Since my ps3 died prior to the original release, this was my first time through on the ps4. The care that went into this game is astonishing. It just hit nailed about every aspect. Loved it.

Spoiler for Hiden:
You can find the keycard ahead of time, you can also deal with most of the stalkers ahead of time too.

ANOTHER SPOILER! SPOILERCEPTION:
Spoiler for Hiden:
It's upstairs in a room on a desk, I think the room will look like a security room.

Spoiler for Hiden:
The room is definitely not available until you activate the generator.  I think it opens after you start it, if not until the infected attack.  This is definitely an area where you just need to use the shotgun and bombs to clear the area.  The bloater is slow and will go up and down platforms.  If you just shotgun the regular infected, you can easily take down the bloater from distance.

Actually:
Spoiler for Hiden:
The room is very much available before you turn on the generator, you just have to search carefully as it's a bit out of the way.

I know this because:
Spoiler for Hiden:
Grabbing the keycard also triggers the stalkers in the area to start attacking you, instead of avoiding you like they do before you grab the keycard or turn on the generators.

It's an area that can play out a variety of ways.

Spoiler for Hiden:
You sure it was the correct door?

Hmm... what difficulty level were you playing on? That might have an effect. I was playing on normal. There's also a bunch of youtube videos of people playing both the PS3 and PS4 versions that are able to get into the room.

Spoiler for Hiden:
Both of the following videos are set just before finding the actual door.

PS4 walkthrough:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyQUHWvx8a4#t=845

PS3 walkthrough:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDBY46K1FxM#t=387

There's a boarded up door right next to the actual doorway you need to go through, it's a small, isolated room with a bunch of security monitors.

Otherwise, not arguing with what you saw. I'm just curious if the designers implemented some kind of randomization, or difficulty level based changes in where you can go.

I can confirm that the room in question is available before the big event. I did it in that order when I played through the game on the PS4.

I'm definitely crazy then. I just did this section and since it was not my first time I was poking around before the fun starts and I didn't make my way into that room even though I know about it. Will have to fire it up again and see for myself.

That sequence is weird. I was definitely able to get the keycard before the generator. However, the bloater sequence played out differently based on my approach.

My first few attempts I'd set up traps on the ramp and try to kill the bloater as he came up the ramp. But that wasn't working because he'd still catch up to me from behind while I tried to kill the Stalkers blocking the hallway. So in later attempts I tried to just sprint down the hall using the shotgun to clear stalkers and when I turned the corner to the hallway with the keycard door there was a bloater waiting for me. It's almost like the game positioned the bloater so I would always have to face him, no matter what my approach.

The hotel basement segment that you guys are talking about is where I gave up during the PS3 version. I just got through it in Remastered and I'm convinced they tweaked the difficulty because the bloaters go down way more quickly than I remember. I'm pretty sure two shotgun blasts and two fire bottles were all it took.

Either that or the funky framerate issues in the PS3 version were the culprit.
