a new
hardcore space sim recently announced.
Rogue System is an attempt to bring the classic space-combat sims into the modern era of gaming. Unlike the recent string of more arcade-like space shooters however, Rogue System also gives a nod to both classic and modern hardcore combat flight-sims by introducing fully integrated ship systems and the click-able cockpit to control them. Not only will you have to fly and fight, but you will also have to manage your ship and its functions to get the most out of it at all times.
The plan is to sell Rogue System in modules, a minimal amount for each, to support the project over a long period of time. The first module would be the initial military campaign. The next would be the addition of open-ended gameplay. Other modules will include enhanced FPS gameplay with breaching actions, new ship hulls and ship systems, multi-player, and new military campaigns to draw you back into that story from time to time.
I like the potential this game has. The campaign mode sounds interesting enough, but I also think this may be one where I wait until the open ended module is released before jumping in. IMO if they were smart they'd add that into the initial release instead of waiting.
