Back to a gameplay question about the factions very, very early in the game. Not sure if it is a spoiler, but..

Spoiler for Hiden:
The militia now appears as red to me--can I get back in their good graces or is it not possible?

Ouch.
Spoiler for Hiden:
I'd try shooting at the 'real' bad guys and see what happens. Just make sure you don't keep shooting/killing the good guys.

personally, when i screwed up like that a couple times, i just let snake get killed, & started over again (i know, cheesy, but wtf smile ). another thing i noticed: if i went thru an area allied with the militia, & got a 'we did it!' thing happen, i'd still be allied in the next area. otherwise, i think i had to re-establish my cred (tho maybe not - was i doing it, but didn't have to?)...

d'oh!...

Spoiler for Hiden:
oh, well: they must've really been enjoying my gung-ho attitude, then, cuz every time we'd enter a new area without that 'we did it!' beforehand, i'd be up front blasting away at the pmcs just to make a good impression smile ...

COME ON! SERIOUSLY!?

End of Act IV:

Spoiler for Hiden:
OMG. Metal Gear Battle.  drool drool drool drool

Unbelievable.  Raiden cuts his arm off.

(Still not sure how he stopped the boat...but whatever!).

Vamp dying. Naomi. Now Raiden. Zow. ZOW ZOW!

I'm going to ask Kojima to marry me.

Spoiler for Hiden:
as i say in the spoiler thread, my #1 mgs4 'holy shit!' moment was when i realized the rex/ray thing was on - took me completely by surprise...

I totally agree with what you say here and loved every freakin minute of it.

Just finished act 4 and clocked in at about 19 hours.

damn, that was impressive.

I can't wait to play again on hard. The boss battles, while somewhat time consuming, have seemed particularly easy this time around.

I really like the gun purchase system. While it could be argued this makes it too easy, I really like not having to worry about ammo or weapons. life and psyche are hard enough to keep track of.

I have to admit I resorted to cheat codes in GTA4 to get this kind of weapons purchasing ability. pick up the phone, pick the weapon I want from cheat menu. I'd happily pay money, but the game has enough unnecessary driving as it is.

It was the MyResistance.net forums, an official fansite for Resistance 1 and 2.  No, he wasn't banned because he took down the spoiler content just before mods could get to him, it's a big site. mad

So I'm a little bit into Act V (didn't play at all last night due to trying to troubleshoot our dishwasher)...my question is should I try to play it through in all one sitting or is it okay to grab at it in bits and pieces like I did with the rest of the game?

i played the whole game (including chapter 5) in chunks, & don't think i enjoyed it any less for that (probably more, actually - kinda prolonged the whole thing smile )...

Play Act 5 straight through.  It's relatively short gameplay-wise (really only two sections) and long on cutscenes.  Just make sure you have four hours or so set aside. The post-final boss fight sequence is about an hour.

Yeah, it's pretty damn awesome.  Really slick presentation- it's obvious that they put a lot of work into it.  Frankly they probably could have sold the thing or released it on UMD like the Digitial Graphic Novel and it would have been worth $10 or so.

While you may not particularly enjoy the beginning part of act 3, with more playthroughs you'll learn to love it.  And the second half of act 3 is FREAKIN' AWESOME

HIM?  Are you referring to Raging Raven (very much a her)? If so, it really helps if you picked up the Surface-to-Air missile in South America.  Anyway you want to:

Spoiler for Hiden:
Go to the top floor.  Concentrate on taking out Raven's minions.  That will enrage her and cause her to slow down and focus on killing you.  When she does that, hit her with the most powerful weapons you've got. Eventually she'll overheat and head to some nearby buildings to cooldown.  That's the part to use the SAM if you have it since you can take off massive damage.  If not, use the Sniper rifle to take her health down while she's recuperating.  Rinse, repeat.

While I was initially disappointed with that boss battle becuase it isn't clever like some of the others, on subsequent playthroughs I've found it really fun and it's actually one of my favorite boss battles in the game.

managed to do it - and yes, its her... I just equipped my most powerfull rife (for some reason, I was using the old ones, nowhere near as powerfull) and just concentrated on killing her whenever she appeared....worked...

Love the game again ;-)

Wanted to bump this to say -

I'm starting another playthrough (this one being a no-kill one) and I just can't believe how incredible this game plays & looks.  I'm just super impressed at the little details everywhere.

Such a fine, fine game..

Can that even be done?  How do you get past the boss battles?

And I agree with your overall assessment of the game.

My MGS series MO is to stun every enemy around and kill the bosses.  MGS3 spoiler: Like at the end of MGS3, I think my walk through the swamp was all of 5 seconds because I had only killed 2 guards the whole game...but all the bosses came back...Good luck to you as I can't imagine taking the time to stun kill some of them.. retard

just finished Act 3 and got into Act 4 a little...holy shit that was awesome!

the evolution of the story during Act 3 is just incredible, and i can't remember another game with such awesome cutscenes.  as someone who just played through MGS 1-3 prior to starting MGS4, i love all the ties to earlier games that are starting to appear...and given the location of Act 4, i only expect the awesome bits of fan-service to continue icon_cool

There is a budget version of this game due out in August(Japan release),the budget release will include trophies at long last, and people who already have the game will receive a patch

Eurogamer-Trophies for MGS4

The budget release will also have the option to do a full install....no more 'End of Act' installs, but it is not known if current versions of the game will get a patch to do the same thing

Eurogamer-Full install for MGS4
