combining Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories, and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days into the same package!  I hope this comes stateside, and it does well enough for a 2.5 Remix.

I was literally heading into the final boss of KH1 when my BC PS3 died.  Well, okay not literally, as it didn't happen while I was playing, but that was where I was when I lost the save.

I have to say I don't know that I would want to play through the game again.

a bit more about the update:

Quote
Sora and the other character models for Kingdom Hearts have been replaced with character models from Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. And play operation is closer to Kingdom Hearts II. Regarding the Theater Mode, 70 percent are mainly old scenes made to be new cutscenes with voice.

also:

Quote
“Is there gonna be a high-definition version of Kingdom Hearts II later?” asked Famitsu.

“It’d be unusual if there wasn’t,” Nomura replied with a smile.

still no word on what regions it is going to be released in though.

due this fall

Quote
Square Enix has announced that it is releasing Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMix in the U.S. this fall, and fans should find plenty to like.

The game includes the Japan-only release Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix which has new missions, abilities, weapons, enemies, and more, and ReMIX also adds trophy support and an HD gloss.

ReMIX also includes PS2's Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories and a compilation of HD remastered cinematic scenes from Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days.

No specific date has been announced for ReMIX, but look for it on the PlayStation 3 this fall.

the Front Page has a preview

and it contains this sentence which has made me go  Cabbage Patch Cabbage Patch Cabbage Patch Cabbage Patch Cabbage Patch

Quote
Camera is now controlled with the analog stick, rather than the shoulder buttons

Seriously, that was the only thing i hated about the KH games

I looked up on wiki exactly what the Final Mix version of KH1 included

Quote
Final Mix
Released only in Japan, Kingdom Hearts Final Mix has several events and a number of gameplay tweaks that are not in previous releases. Spoken dialogue is in English, with Japanese subtitles. New scenes, clarifying certain plot points, such as Riku's journey and foreshadowing of Kingdom Hearts II, were included.

A gameplay option allows the player to skip cut scenes after seeing them once. The optional bosses first included in the English version were introduced to Japanese players for the first time, along with a new fight against "Unknown Man", in an attempt to raise interest for the sequel.

In another attempt at foreshadowing, a video titled "Another Side, Another Story 【 deep dive 】" plays at the ending if the player accomplishes certain tasks. New music tracks incorporated were "Disappeared" and "Another Side". The "Night on Bald Mountain" and "One-Winged Angel" tracks from the English version were included as well.

Other changes include new abilities, new weapons, new items, additional and recolored enemies, and gameplay tweaks to make the game easier for the player, along with two new levels of difficulty.

I can't wait to replay this

It's Kingdom Hearts in a higher resolution, the reviews shouldn't be too off from the original  icon_lol

Picked this up yesterday and have been enjoying it so far.  The HD graphics are crisp, controls are responsive, and the game is just as good as I remember.  My only minor complaint would be the fact you can't turn off the subtitles.  Other then that it's been a pretty good ride for the first few hours I put in.  Here's hoping we see Kingdom Hearts 2 HD Final Mix before the end of the year.

Hmm, they may have fixed the controls but reviews I've read indicate that the camera is still wonky.

Any tips for a first-time player on what "power to take and power to give up"? What effect do the next set of questions have on the gameplay?

I read someplace that your answers to those questions influence the rate of XP you earn throughout the game.  One answer means that you'll earn the fastest XP up until Level 40, another means that you'll gain it at an even rate throughout the game, and the last means that you'll get faster XP after Level 40.

The trouble is that I can't remember for the life of me where I got that information.  I thought it was on No High Scores, but now I can't find the post.  Take this information with a grain of salt.

here's a FAQ on the choices.  the take power/leave power choice affects stats and skills you get, while the 3 questions affect XP gain, like AA said.

Kingdom Hearts II.5 (apparently Square Enix isn't content mashing words together, so now they must mash numbers together too slywink) has been announced for the PS3.  It will include HD versions of KH2 Final Mix and Birth By Sleep Final Mix and HD cutscenes from Re : Coded.

Picked this up yesterday played about 5 hrs and yup, loving it again(last played it about 3-4 years ago i think)

I had to wait until the tutorial had finished so i could invert my Y and X axis on the camera on the right stick but once i did that i was fine,When fighting i don't really use the camera stick,i just use the R1 lock button on and off with the attack button and the fighting seems pretty straight forward, and then when running about i use the camera stick which works and feels so much better than using R1 and L1 like in the original version

Noticed that now the picture fits the screen properly now,in the original PAL version(no idea about NTSC version)we had black borders all the way around(see the Trickmaster boss pic below)

Graphics do look better, but still nothing to write home about,The proper cutscenes(not ingame i mean) do look a bit nicer though,Colour palette seems to be turned up everything is very bright, the Bosses are different colours now,the one in Wonderland was Black and Red in the original, now its pink and lime green!(again see the Trickmaster pic below)

i found a page with all the changes from Original version to Final Mix Version
http://kingdomhearts.wikia.com/wiki/Kingdom_Hearts_Final_Mix

I have seen one small new cutscene, and it had no speech and sometimes the music jolts/skips throughout the game, but other than that no problems

Finished Wonderland yesterday(although i will have to go back for some collectables later on) and did the barrel stages for Olympus Coliseum so i can fight in the games, next its Deep Jungle to meet Tarzan  icon_biggrin

(Had to swap yellow for blue as Yellow wasn't showing up great)

I was going to be a later starter thinking it would help me later on,then i remembered having trouble with the early bosses in Deep Jungle and Wonderland and i didn't want to pick Early starter because i remembered Ursula being a bitch to kill....so i chose normal

Also at the start I took the Sword and gave up the Shield, whatever choice you make there it affects your stats

Remember the second choice is what you give up

1st Choice
Sword
2nd Choice
Rod

I didn't even look at this table though,i just chose the sword and dumped the shield
(and on afterthought why the hell did i not just scan the damn page in the piggyback guide as these tables are all on the same page)
