Yeah, I dunno. The cinemas will surely look nice, but the main character looks more and more like a chick in every screenshot I've seen. I have no problem playing a female lead, but I'm a little less comfortable playing a Michael Jackson wannabe, with his friend, the busty bunny.

LOL Agreed, though. *checks over the shots* Yup - Square still knows how to be the best at rendering CGI scenes.

doesn't it mean that someone farted when you tuoch your finger to your nose, as in you're claiming NOT IT!
Well, that was the first thing I thought when I saw the female lead doing that...
I think the concept art is what captured me right off the bat. The game looks stunning as well. Hopefully the American version comes through, as I've only read positives about the Japanese version.

I really want to see a next gen FF with graphics as good as the cinemas. That'll be sweet. As for this one, I'll wait for a few reviews before I leap.

FWIW, the reviews from the Japanese press have been very positive. A perfect 10 out of 10 from Famitsu (which has only happened 5 times in the history of the publication, iirc), and a couple other positive reviews here. I wasn't terribly excited about FF XII (effeminate lead characters, an MMORPG feel, etc.), but all the positive feedback is starting to make me look forward to it.

maybe it's a japanese thing, but i think he's adorable. i'm getting tired of games where the main character is always either a cute-but-dumb chick, an otherwise-cool chick with a huge rack, or some big macho man. i think there aren't enough bishounen main characters in games (FFVIII and FFX being obvious exceptions). but anyway, the pics are absolutely gorgeous! really looking forward to the game. =3

Wow, CGI fest. Microsoft shows off CGI and gets damned, but it is just fine for Sony to do it. I dont get it. How does the actual gameplay in this game look anyway?

This is because Square (unlike Sony and whatever that 'concept movie' was they showed off) openly admits that this is CGI. They don't try to hide it. Her skirt defies physics. Copious amounts of glue, methinks.

These are old shots - Vaan's look has changed since then. As for the in-game graphics, they're looking great. There are previews and videos at 1Up that do a good job of showing off the quality and variety of the graphics.

I think also the poses for those pictures are bad..he doesn't look so bad when he's holding a sword and fighting..but aren't we all used to the feminine look by now?
