I was surprised that no one else had posted about this: Based on the best-selling board game and set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, Space Hulk is a 3D digital turn based strategy game that recreates the classic claustrophobic board game experience for single player and multiplayer cross-platform play between PC, Mac and on iOS. RPS had a interview with the boss of Full Control, the company behind this. I remember playing the original PC version and liking it. I particularly liked how you could pause it but only for a set amount of time; it gave the game a good feel of tension.

aside from Wasteland 2, this is the game I'm most excited about. This might be the game that gets me to buy an Ipad.

Considering that I'm about to run a mini-campaign of the roleplaying game Deathwatch set in a Space Hulk, then yeah, I'm excited.

I played a ton of Space Hulk. It was my first introduction to the Warhammer 40k universe. I'm feeling some serious nostalgia after seeing those screenshots.

If Banner is wearing a space suit when he turns into Space Hulk, doesn't it rip and then he suffocates?

So, for people who are more knowledgeable about Space Hulk than I am, what edition of the game is this based on? Based on what I know, there's been three different editions. I believe I own the second one, where the only enemy is regular Genestealers. I have the impression that at least one of the other versions also features different breeds of Genestealers, such as the Magus. Am I correct? Which version(s) is that? Do we know if these things will be in this version?
I hope this does well so we can get some kind of sequel that has us fighting Chaos Space Marines too. Those were terrifying in the second Space Hulk computer game. I never could get through the first mission where you encounter them, as even one of them alone was enough to slaughter an entire team of Space Marines in Terminator armor.

I'm no expert, but from the RTS games I thought the Terminator armor dudes were the uber of the uber. Wouldn't they mop up a Chaos marine?

Not when the Chaos Marines are also clad in Terminator armor. In the lore, Chaos Marines are often presented as superior to the loyalist Marines because of their mutations and unnatural powers. Many of these Chaos Marines even fought at the side of Horus himself 10k years before the "current" date in the setting (though I believe Space Hulk actually takes place in the 36th Century, almost 5000 years before the era we typically see in WH40k), which makes them mighty indeed. Most loyalist Space Marines live very short lives compared to their Chaos counterparts. Regular Chaos Marines clad in Astartes Power Armor would be killed pretty easily by Terminator Space Marines though.

Terminators are both veterans, and have heavier tanky armor.
There was a version of Space Hulk with different rules and a lot more armies, not just Space Marines vs Genestealers. I think is was called Space Crusade or something like that, and had rules for almost all 40K armies of the time.
The current version they're basing it off of is the latest GW rerelease, which was back to the original. The only thing besides basic genestealers is the broodlord.
Chaos Space Marines tend to be more poorly armed technologically, but make up for it with various chaos weaponry and augmentations.

Since we're getting into it, where's the best place to read about the WH40K lore? I eat this stuff up, but playing the card game and minitures is not my thing. I got into it with the PC RTS games and then the console games last year. I always want to look something up and see what it's all about.

If you want to read 40k stuff and you've got an e-reader, try The Black Library, which is Games Workshop's book division. Then get the Eisenhorn trilogy (Xenos, Malleus, Hereticus). If you just want to read facts about the setting, try the Warhammer 40k Wiki. Under no circumstances visit the other wiki, called Lexicanum. It features a color scheme that will make your eyes bleed, and even the most constructive of criticism gets you flamed and possibly banned. Who knew running a website actually requires a minimum of social skills?

Under no circumstances visit the other wiki, called Lexicanum. LOL, which of course was the first thing I did... yikes! And then took a dip in the forums and what's right on top of the "Technical" one? Can you please change the background color for more clarity?Starts off with a perfectly reasoned post and goes straight downhill from there.
