I'll be getting it off of Gametap (it's supposed to be available the same day it's in the stores), so once I break down the monthly charge vs the games I get it'll cost me less than 5 bucks  thumbsup

Very cool-I am looking forward to this game as Undying is one of my all time favorites (and a game I would actually like to replay soon). This one looks cool ,hope they can pull it off. I think I will try it on PC and 360.

I'll certainly play the demo and I'll have access to the PC version for free via Gametap.  However going by the videos this looks like a godawful result of a marketing meeting where they like "we've got Clive Barker onboard and he brings the horror plus space marines are real popular now!"

I loved Undying as well but isn't Barker the only connection to that?  Are any of the actual development staff from Undying working on Jericho?

Yup, totally different team based in Madrid.  They did the American McGee game "Scrapland" a few years ago.

Trailers for this one haven't looked too promising if you ask me.

Same here, I downloaded the trailer on Marketplace and my friend and I practically sputtered "generic" at the same time.

so,what does Dead Rising,Crackdown and Gears Of War all have in common(apart from them being on the 360)?

they have all been banned in Germany

what does that have to do with this?

well,it seems the Fatherland has just practiaclly named Jericho as its latest victim....they can only sell it to over 18s(which is pretty much meant to be anyway)...but no advertisement can be displayed anywhere in the country for the game, which effectively kills it,as most shops wont display it if they cant advertise it

really, its time to feel sorry for Germany (they dont get a lot of marketplace content either because of the strict rules).....why are they so strict?....surely they dont think...nah,it wouldnt....IT WAS NEARLY 70 YEARS AGO DAMNIT!!.....give those Krauts a break..some young gameplayer isnt gonna turn to violence and bring the world to its knees!!......let the kid,if he is deranged go out get a gun and get taken down by the cops like in any other country icon_eek

Well it's well-established that comics, rock and roll and videogames were what turned Hitler into a genocidal maniac, so they're just playing it safe.

That wasn't exactly American McGee's game.  He came in as a producer late in the development cycle and they slapped "American McGee presents" up top, which helped them sell an extra 2 million copies.  Not.   slywink

LOL Tongue

okay i have some impressions on the demo,i have just played it,and finished it

first of all...short demo(bigger than heavenly sword though)

before you even start the game/demo there is an introduction to everyone, and my god was it boring, and i felt very overwhelmed before i even started the game(swear it lasted about 5 minutes)i was just wanting to get in the game...but you dont have to watch the introduction

so,you start off only as 3 of your team...namely a chick with a gun,who has telekinis powers,a big fook off guy who is a bit of a powerhouse and another chick who is some kind of goth, witchcraft type bird, who when uses a dagger in her hand, cutting herself makes nearby enemies catch on fire
i tried to switch to the other 3 members of the team..,but i couldnt(using the D-pad),it only gives you a choice of the 3 you have

the game, although it had a few puzzles(it took me about 5 minutes to complete the demo)....but seems as though its gonna get VERY repedative with the gunfire/enemies,so i guess using some of your offensive abilities(although not all characters have abilities that strike at a foe)could make the game a little bit more interesting...but will you be bothered after an hour or so?

with one of the girls she has a sniper rifle, when pressing down on the right analogue puts you in the sniper scope mode, and then press RB to fire a special power bullet that you can guide through more than one enemy if you are good, this is the girl you start of with as well, and if the rest of your team go down, you can heal them by standing next to them and pressing A...i am not sure if all characters can do that though,i think its a power

the big guys power,i am not really sure what it does,i press the LB/RB buttons(they are your power buttons) and the left one makes your arm appear from a big gun(at first i thought it was like barret from FF7)thats crafted over your arm,and flames arise and a ghostly snake, whereas the rb jsut makes the snake appear

the graphics are so-so,there is a part in the demo when you are in a tunnel and you have to use a flashlight, the lighting was very impressive, but the rest, when not in a tunnel looks standard(some good rain effects at the beginning though)

it also felt very much a PC game(sorry...this is the 360 demo i am talking about),which may please some of you..i didnt mind it

i really wanted to get to grips with everyones powers, but as i say not all are available...from the demo, the game felt a very typical affair, nothing great, very average

will i pick it up when its released?,if there wasnt so many other great titles then it prolly would find itself on my list, but with all the games due out,its not a MUST

i am interested in what you guys think though, and maybe i missed some stuff, and maybe one of you can tell me what it is that the big guys power is/does

EDIT:oh i forgot to tell you,but the game also has interactive action parts...you know, press A when A appears on screen, press Y when Y appears... not very good really, been so-so about those type of things

yeah, from the videos his gun looks pretty ridiculous.  If it wasn't for Gametap I'd be skipping this one altogether.

The game was actually a bit better than I was expecting. It looks pretty good and handles alright, and I thought the weapons were really badass. However, unfortunately, I'm a bit burned out on the FPS genre at the moment, so I'll most likely never play the full game.

You know, I didn't think any game could have a worse story or background than the Darkness, until I watched the "about Jericho" trailer which brokedown the story and characters, and then played the demo.

Hey generic FPS game with "cool" powers and generic horror monsters. I played the PS3 demo, and the game looked decent, but the gameplay was pretty lacking, and the over the top cheeseball characters and story are laughable at best.

You know, they could've just as easily developed one character with all of those powers(**cough** Bioshock **cough**), and maybe spent more time devising something more interesting than interactive buttons press sequences. Or maybe there will develop team commands, because even though there is a Jericho team, there doesn't seem to be much going on in terms of team control.

I will definitely avoid this title, regardless of reviews. I got suckered by the Darkness earlier this year and won't be fooled again.

You know, against all my better judgment (And my first impressions), I actually really like this game. Its a clear 7.5/10 type game, with very high production values, creepy atmosphere, but relatively mediocre gameplay. I tried it on both PC and 360, and my god is this game consolified. In the configure control screen on the PC, the alternate button shows the 360 controller configuration. Really? Such developer laziness. The controls are also floaty on the pc, as if they want the auto-aim, and the game chugs like an absolute bear if you keep the shadows on high and full AA (And I have a pretty beefy rig). Still, it plays well, and is surprisingly fun. Both the PC and 360 demos were fun for me, and while I can't see myself buying this for more than 19.99, I would definitely rent it from Gametap or Gamefly for 360.

Microsoft considers the 360 controller an official controller for 'games for windows' so that might be it.  I tried the PC demo and didn't notice any floaty controls or chugging.  I'm not a huge fan of button pressing sequences on the keyboard while I don't mind them on the consoles.  Good atmosphere, average gameplay.  There's potential.

Yeah, that might be it, as idiotic as that is to me as real PC gamer (As well as a console fan!). I was playing at 1680x1050 with everything turned to the max-then it definitely chugged for me. If it doesn't for you at those settings your system must be quite a bit more powerful than mine. In all fairness though, if I turned the shadows off and the AA to 4x, then it runs very very smoothly. Either way, I think it has potential.

I really liked Undying, that game scared the crap out of me and the setting really pulled me in.  I played the demo for this last night on the 360 and I should have known how bad it was after watching that 10 minute intro to the game and characters.  I got to a point where I was in a cave and I couldn't even tell what was wall and what was floor and I figured I'd had about enough.  I'll be passing on this one.
