did something happen to the Gaming Trend region?  I tried playing this weekend and I cannot load up CeeKay's Creek, plus all the other cities won't let me visit and show zero population.

I played last Thursday and everything was there. I encountered the same as you one time, but I think it's just server maintenance. I think everything is there. Will check tonight.

ended up abandoning it.  I could load up new cities no problem, but whenever I tried to access the one in the GT region I couldn't.  oh well, decided to uninstall the thing.  In the end I played the game for about 8 hours, which is 6 hours more than I expected to play it anyways.

I still have it installed. I still have hope they will improve it. Technically, the game is now playable.. but it needs bigger lots and new buildings, imo.

Is it?  I thought I heard that there were still broken casinos and wolf pack service vehicles.

Haven't played it since launch. Every time I check threads to see if it has improved I found out it hasn't. I basically gave EA $60, lesson learned.

State of Simcity.  here's a shocker:

Quote
Exploration for Offline Mode is Happening

Right now we have a team specifically focused on exploring the possibility of an offline mode. I can’t make any promises on when we will have more information, but we know this is something that many of our players have been asking for. While the server connectivity issues are behind us, we would like to give our players the ability to play even if they choose not to connect. An offline mode would have the additional benefit of providing room to the modding community to experiment without interfering or breaking the multiplayer experience.

but but but THE CLOUD!!!!

...

the section after that says there won't be any increase in city size.

I bet Rittch would like to lay a plot in CeeKay's Creek if you know what I mean.  ninja

EA is probably going to shut down the server soon after they have offline mode.

The way EA treated their customers after the launch near completely turned me off to play the game again. I love the 'Sim City' series.. but EA and Maxis truly screwed the pooch on this one and they haven't made significant ammends to the community. The game deserves to fail.

Remember when Maxis and EA said offline mode was virtually impossible..   10 Months later Off Line is being patched in.  I feel bad for everyone that wasted money on this travesty

'virtually impossible'.  how long did it take hackers to figure this one out?

are they finally making the map size more like SC4?  that's the only thing that would entice me to even try it.

I haven't heard any word on map size changes, but between the offline mode and the modder world getting involved, I bet we see some playable version of the game in the next year or two.

They have said from the beginning and over and over again that the map size won't be changing.  The design of the game is different from past games and people really need to get over it, because it's not going to be added officially.

Exactly. They also said the map size was fixed for the near future. One of the interviews I read when it was released said it's a possibility in the future once machine specs improve a bit.

Did some reading to see if the game is any more playable now, offline mode or not. Consensus seems to be no: map size still makes it pointless since you run out of room so quickly, that the traffic model is still broken, as well as various other bugs and limitations of the game model

SimCity is pretty much dead to me. Actually, anything EA releases now is dead to me. Of course one big name, must have game would probably reverse that, but I wouldn't buy without reviews/forum chatter. I also don't think that game is in the works from EA.

Titanfall is that game for me. There's so much great buzz about the game, but after SimCity, Battlefield, and high level execs dropping like flies, I'm worried EA will find some way to screw it up.
