It seems like this is different than the first, but I do not see that I can pre-load more. Does anyone know anything else about this?

Yes, there is more to download.  If you go into "Play Games" and double-click Half-Life 2 in the list it will begin the pre-load process again.  It will be around the 50% number, but you start downloading an almost 1GB sound package which is now on my machine.  So there is almost 2GB of information from the pre-load at this time.

Mine's going right now. When Steam started this morning I glanced down at it, and it had a different icon.  It's the same little symbol but with a line coming out of the top of it, and it's usually only there when you're downloading something, so I looked at it sort of puzzled at first and then checked out the monitor. Sure enough, second part of the HL2 preload was going.

so you didn't click on HL2, and it started on it's own?  hopefully mine will do that too.

I think it automatically starts when you log into Steam.  I just went that way so I could see the precentage...it already looked like it had started without me initializing it.

...which is why I don't let Steam run in the background.  You'll download when I tell you you can download!

SEPT. 30 BABY!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually I haven't pre-loaded anything and likely won't. But then again my computer is still in a heap on the floor of the office as I've not had time to hook it back up and network it all. frown

I dunno about that sept 30 timeframe. EB has pushed their time back to Nov 1.

It's likely always been Sept. 30 of some year. Sorta like DNF is "Sometime in the future we might make a game" kinda plan. I do wonder whether 3D Realms actually sends out updates to the publisher any more, or if they just gave up and decided to focus on playing MP Doom all day instead of coding. smile

No, I still insist it'll be September 15th, just like they said last year. Just it'll actually come out unlike how they lied through their teeth and had their source code get stoled. smile
