Has anyone tried this out?  Concept sounds cool, but...

I was all set to put some money down on Steam last night, but then as I read more about it, sounded like there was a problem with not enough players raiding castles, or not enough incentive to try harder castles.

I played early beta but oddly the game caused my system to overheat pretty much every time.  Haven't tried it lately.

All hearsay but my understanding was it started out pretty great. Then they basically added in the ability to buy power, which angered all the people who were playing already and many of them left. Then the developer realized they had made a mistake and tried to reset, or tone back, the power buying thing but the audience had already moved on.

I will still try out the finished product but Iím not willing to pay into the beta.

Was just seeing some mention of this game, then went to the Steam page and reviews say that as of mid-Feb they completely overhauled the game and took away everyone's progress and now they hate it. Anyone have any firsthand knowledge?

Hmmm, I don't know if I played it before or after the overhaul you mention.  It seemed pretty fun to me when I played, but I didn't get that far.

I tried it when it went open beta.  My impressions were a bit “meh”.  I like the idea of it but I don’t feel like the base building or the attacking is fleshed out enough to be fun long term.  I also found it a bit grindy.  The part of the game I enjoyed most was the building and in order to build anything meaningful I would have had to sink a ton of time into it.  Maybe if you had a group of friends to compete with to make the best dungeon it might be more compelling but single player wasn’t doing much for me.

Regardless, it’s free so why not check it out for yourself?

Well, a free waste of time is still a waste of time...

I found it interesting when I re-visited it, but ultimately have plenty of other things to spend my time on.
