I'm about to have several days in a row with a lot of sitting around and waiting, and that means it's time for a new DS game.  I'm totally out of the loop, though.  I don't think I've played anything this year aside from Infinite Space and Dragon Quest IX, and the only newish games I can think of are Scribblenauts 2 and the new Professor Layton.  I'm too sore from my bad Scribblenauts 1 experience to dare try the 2nd, and I don't think I'm in the mood for Layton.

So what should I get?  I'm open to pretty much any genre if the game is good.

The new Golden Sun is getting decent reviews, it'll probably be my next RPG.   Reminds me that I haven't turned my DS on in months.  Probably need to blow the dust off and make sure it still works.

I played the new Layton and it was fun as always.  There are a few games I am interested in on the DS (Scribblenauts 2, 4 Heroes of Light, 999 (real name too long to type), Sonic Colors, and Mario vs. Donkey Kong), but I have a rule to only play one DS game at a time now and the one I am playing is Etrian Odyssey 3.  Really liking the challenge on it and it is a fun game to play, especially with the added ship exploration game.

Are the classes all available at the beginning in this one or do you have to play a ways into the game to unlock some of them?

Yes, they are available from the beginning.  You can do dual-classing, too.

Ten classes are available at the start, while the other two have to be unlocked.  Only one class can be unlocked during each game, so you'd have to play through twice to get both.

Oh, sorry. I didn't know there were hidden classes.

If you're nervous about Scribblenauts 2, here's my GT review:

Short version: Better than the original and the control issues are fixed.
