Because when he lifts up bottles he doesn't need to use his hands, but he does use them when holding a gun or a crowbar, etc.

Didn't you watch the cutscene where it is explained that Gordon gained psychic powers during the Black Mesa teleportation error? In chapter 8 I chose the psychic blast power and the Combine are cake now.

I can't wait til I get the flying mod!

I thought it was cool when he met Garrett from the Thief series and Garrett gave him the Bow Upgrade.  Flaming arrows rock!

It was great when I stumbled upon the cow level by accident.   And also the nude hack for Alix is SWEET.

I don't think you people are taking my question with the seriousness it deserves.....or maybe you are......

I am going back to watching boxes mysteriously float in front of me.

Screw Half Life 2! Gordon needs hands! Or at least one! And a long arm for grabbing! It'd be more realistic! And when I look down I want to see a body! I should be able to see Gordon's pecs!

If you didn't pick up on it yet....the game you want is Trespasser.

ha.. I'll never forget Trespasser's "one armed rifle" animation. It's one of the goofiest things I've ever seen in a game.

What's odd about Gordon's deal is that he does have arms and hands. When he puts on his suit for the first time, he flexes the his hands in front of him (and it looks damn cool too). Dunno why they couldn't have added a similar animation for picking up items.

Ummm ... wouldn't the floating boxes make Gordon a telekinetic, not a psychic?

That moment when he flexes his hands and the music from HL1 kicks on was just too sweet. Valve knows how to do it right.

Well,

No one questions why HomeStarRunner (www.homestarrunner.com) doesn't have arms and hands and can mysteriously lift and carry stuff smile

A Pew Research Center poll found nearly half of Americans hold the false belief that TARP was passed under President Obama, while only 34 percent know it originated under Bush.
"Oh yeah?" Bush replied. "50% of the people were wrong."

I think it looks weird too, but it would be virtually impossible to implement hand animation for picking up items because you'd have to do a different one for just about every unique object in the game. Wouldn't you?

They even talk about the gloves.  "It fits you like a glove, Gordon -- at least the glove parts do."

I like the HL1 music, but I miss the "Have a very safe day" part of the startup.
