Well what is the word on this?  It comes out this week and I have seen a few previews but I am still leery of the gameplay.  A action game, but with cards?  That strikes me as odd to say the least.  I am wondering how it will turn out.

Anyone planning on rushing out to get it so they can post impressions?

Well, I hate to repond to my own thread but I noticed in the ads Sunday that is will be $24.99 at Best Buy and they list it as coming on Thursday.

I'm a Kingdom Hearts sucker, although I would love to read a review on this first.  Card games can be quite good on the GBA (Yu-Gi-Oh for instance), although this game sounds far different than my example.

I couldn't get into the first one for some reason, but I'll probably give KHII a shot.  I don't know if I can swing at a GBA title though.

There's a review for it in the latest GMR... it got a 7/10.  If I remember right, they loved the card combat system but said the game was too easy to actually ever have to use it strategically.  Also, the levels "were repetitive, boxy mazes" that were carbon copies of the original.

Still, the graphics look very good - and since I'm playing thru the original KH right now it would be nice to play a version that doesn't have the whonky camera...

I've never played Kingdom Hearts, but I hope to someday (no PS2 yet).  Is the GBA version just a remake, more or less?  Should I wait.  And never having played the first one, should I just wait anyway on the GBA game.

No, Chain of Memories happens right after the original Kingdom Hearts.  It's a card-based game versus the straight action game that Kingdom Hearts was.

Well the first review I have seen isn't too encouraging.  While they liked the game they find the card based - but yet real time combat to be a bit annoying.  I am not a fan of frantic real time combat.

It will be interesting to see what the other reviews say.

Gamespot has posted their review.  I'll definitely be getting it after I finish the first one.

OK - I'm not sure about the whole card deal. Maybe it's me but I just keep hammering the "A" button like the original KH on PS2. I'm sure there is tons of strategy to it but I haven't found it and, even if I did, I'm not sure you'd actually have time during battle.

How's that?

I played it and didn't like it.  As stated before I was just hitting the A button.  When I tried to select my cards I had to run around the enemies which was hard to do.  You are supposed to have your deck set before
you go in(the order you want them to appear)  I don't think it is random cards coming out either.  Sometimes when you kill an enemy he drops a
card and you have to pick it up to use it.

Just too much running around for me, there was no time for strategy.

Along those lines - Does it matter? Seems like some times I play about 6 cards before the guy I'm fighting plays one. It's not like the cards are even matched up against each other in a 1vs.1, 2vs.2 type of fight and I'm just pounding the "A" button.
