I guess that's why I don't have a DS, because I certainly haven't been waiting for this.  slywink

I imagine Intelligent Systems is big enough that they have multiple teams on these projects.

According to GAF this game is a remake of the 1st Fire Emblem game for the NES, which was never released in the US.

Well, that works for me.

is it just me, or are the sprites in the battle screens actually worse looking than in the GBA FE (Sacred Stones)?

I just had FE:SS fired up on my GBPlayer last week. I'd say the sprites in the screen shots look better, but not significantly better. Certainly not to the degree that LoZ:PH looks better than LoZ:Minish Cap or even to the degree that FF III looks better than FF VI.

I thought you were playing Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones?  How could you possibly not know what the game was by the screenshots?

The game looks pretty ugly, but it's a weird art style.  Maybe it'll grow on me.

Found that in the thread you created about Fire Emblem, ATB.  And now I can understand not being able to identify the game above; maybe you were playing the wrong game?

While I'm somewhat excited for the game (never been a big fan of FE, but always give them a shot), I can't help but notice that it looks like complete ass.  The DS is powerful enough to crank out something better than those early-era GBA graphics.

Come on man, use that ATB noggin' of yours.  Think about it for five seconds before you post:

-Look at screenshot, realize it looks a lot like fire emblem, put two and two together, whammo.  I haven't even PLAYED a fire emblem game and yet I knew exactly what it was from the first screenie.

-Think about a video game developer - they don't need to restrict themselves to developing one game at a time.

I think the character sprites look pretty low tech, but the rest of the graphics look awesome.

Dude, Fire Emblem is just the tip of the iceberg

DS could possibly go down as one of the greatest game systems ever made, if not THE greatest.

Which is why there's a ton more games further down in that link that contain some really cool looking titles.

Doh!  The DQ games and the new Monolith game both look pretty nifty.

Where's the Advance Wars love?

Dragon Quest IV looks great although I'm not a fan of the character portrait art.  Dragon Quest IX looks fantastic.

Are there any previews out for Soma Bringer?  I can't find any real info on it.

Yeah, I heard you, No9!  I have a DS and am also not waiting with bated breath for the game.  I think it's one of those "had to have been there" kinda things. I never played the original, and have no interest in a tiny remake!  But then again, one of my favorite GameBoy games - except for the tediously long moves by the "computer" - was Scrabble, so I may not be the best judge of tiny games!  Tongue

It doesn't blow me away graphically but after playing FE:SS 5-10 times I am just excited to have a new FE game, no matter how it looks.  The looks were never the draw of the game anyway.

Those screenshots look really bad, you would think games on the DS would look better over time but I'm consistently surprised at how bad the majority of the games look. Ah well, hopefully there is beauty within.
