Check out this post on the front page for the details:  http://www.gamingtrend.com/2013/10/20/gaming-trend-revamps-entire-review-process/

Any of our reviews moving forward (like the freshly posted Pokemon X/Y and Just Dance 2014 reviews) will feature this new scoring system.  You'll also see the score displayed up front in the review carousel midway on the page or in the Reviews tab up top.

(We also snuck in a visible indicator for videos - I bet you can spot it pretty easily)

We are pretty excited about the new layout and look and hope you are too.  We'd love to hear your feedback!

Looks good though

Scroll down and you can see Just Dance 2014 and Pokemon X/Y with the score bubbles on em.  smile

And yea....looking forward to seeing who's going to earn that coveted "Broken - Literally doesn't function" review score.   I had a mouse in the past that could have actually earned it.  Literally would not detect the Bluetooth Dongle and wouldn't work with WiFi.  Support blamed my machine despite trying it on three different systems with three different OS types.

Uhm, can I re-do my Steel Batallion (disKinected Edition) review? slywink

I can just see the hate that will come when something like Uncharted gets a score of 70. smile

I was just thinking about this after reading the Batman review.  Pretty much everyone else grades from 70-100.  If I'm a publisher, why would I ever want to send you a prerelease copy of a game?  Even a decent score from you will drag down my metacritic/gamerankings average.  It might get you more readers as some people like to check out the outliers, but if I were a publisher, I'd cut you off.

What about Joystiq? Quarter to Three? Giant Bomb? Hell, even Metacritic assumes a larger range. There are MANY sites out there that don't adhere to this unspoken 70-100, enough to where I'd say the percentage of sites that do only have a slight majority. They continue to get product to review.

We are holding ourselves to a higher standard. High scoring reviews on this site will now mean something. We've been 'cut off' and cut on for far more whimsical reasons in the past, this will change very little.

If we are beholden to publishers over review scores then we should pack it in because we would be failing you as an audience and ourselves as critics.

Can all the reviewers also post pictures of themselves so I can rate/review them for how hot they are using the same new scale?

Trying to turn the industry around by only using ratings between 0 and 3 out of 10 isn't going to help. slywink

I was a big requester of this when I was here.  Very glad you guys have gone to it, and it's something I'm implementing myself.  Screw this 'school' average stuff.  Leads to score inflation and a clusterfuck of scores between 80-100 and leads to many reviews being nearly useless at a glance.

Congrats, guys.

Agreed on all counts.  the problem lies with those companies who still maintain the 70-100 scale.  and now with metacritic being used by publishers like some kind of valid yard stick for performance.

Why would I give Ron only 10 points on a 100 scale??!?  At minimum I'd give him a 69  nod

Also, if Ron starts a "fan service" thread, I will not be attending.
