it looks like Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Code: Veronica are going to be getting the HD remake for 360 and PS3

I have the PS2 version of Code:Veronica but have never got round to it,and i finished Resident Evil 4 on the Wii and was one of my highlights of the machine for me

this is at least a good direction to go to,that is to hopefully finally get remakes for Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3,seen as though they have remade Resi 1 over and over

High definition remakes of classic zombie games Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Code: Veronica are in the works, according to a Japanese magazine.

Famitsu reveals Biohazard: Revival Selection for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, which is said to include the GameCube and Dreamcast classics touched up for home consoles.

Resident Evil 4 includes Ada's Another Order mode, also known as Separate Ways.

Andriasang reports the game may be called Resident Evil Revival Selection HD Remastered Version in the West.

A release date was not mentioned. Capcom hosts an event called Captivate next month.

maybe this can take away the awful taste of Resident Evil 5 that was nothing short of frustrating

In if they include Move support for both games. Absent that I can't justify buying and beating RE4 for the 4th time. Beat it on the Cube, PS2, and Wii, so it will take a lot to get me again.

And if they leave the original control scheme in for Code Veronica then I won't play through it. The old RE controls are absolutely medieval by now.

Separate Ways was included in some versions of the game, and wasn't an addon. It uses the same locations as the main game, with only a few detours that don't present any major changes in scenery.

It's true, I used to think that the RE movement model was necessary from a survival horror perspective, but then I played Dead Space. Still enjoy RE, though.

I don't know man... Dead Space comes off as more of an action game to me. It rarely induces the feeling of terror and stress that the RE games used to, and I think that had a lot to do with the control mechanics.

well if that's the case why not just make the player not be able to move full stop and let the Zombies come to you

If artificial restrictions are what is needed to create a feeling of terror and stress then why not go all the way with it?  Make your character a one-legged, one-eyed person.  You can only move by awkwardly hopping around and the left half of your screen is black so you never can quite tell how close a zombie may be on your blind side.  Couldn't get much more stressful and terrifying than that.

Nah.  On second thought, that would be ridiculous.  Instead how about a game that doesn't let you frantically retreat while you are firing wildly and inaccurately at a horde of zombies that are closing in?

That was my problem with RE4.  That and escorting the stupid president's daughter around.

Rumors suggest the studio is working on 'Resident Evil: Racoon City', a prequel to the first game.

Looking forward to playing Code Veronica. I've heard it's one of the better games in the series.

I only played through Code Veronica once back when it came out on Dreamcast but I remember it being incredible, as far as I'm concerned 1, 2, and Code Veronica represent the best of the series. I know people love RE4, and I liked it too, but it didn't feel like a RE game to me.

actually,not trying to be different but one of my favourites is Resident Evil 3:Nemesis i loved how every now and then the Nemesis would find you and chase you half way through town ...it was also the first Resident Evil Game i finished as well(Zero,3 and 4 are the only ones i have finished)

well,looks like its true at least for Code:Veronica,here are the achievements for it..sure there are 12 achievements like other Arcade games,but they add up to 1000 points,unlike Arcade games and more like full retail games

Full releases can have any number of achievements (including 12) and vice versa, AFAIK.  King Kong had 1.  The total points are how you can tell if it's an XBLA game.  So this is looking it's not true for Code: Veronica.  Signs point to full release.

i know full releases had very little achievements back in the day(and i have got 1000/1000 for King Kong,there were more than 1 achievement though),but i presumed that was long gone....The Orange Box has 99 achievements if i remember rightly,although it does include 5 games...i managed to bag 75 of those achievements

having just 12 achievements is a bit of a let down,i was looking forward to 'shoot a zombie in the head 25 times after you have killed it' type cheevos


I don't think i will be able to get all these anyway,one achievement that is to get the rocket launcher is by playing the game and finishing within 5 hrs without saving

Yeah, the reason it seems long gone is because it's definitely more fun to have more achievements.  12 is definitely a letdown.  It also makes me wonder about how much effort they're putting into this re-release.

And for King Kong.  You're right.  There was no way not to get 1000 if you finished the game, but they were broken up by chapter.

These games will have a retail presence in Japan, but stateside gamers will have to download them.

So if you're a developer of an Xbox Live Arcade game, and want your title to have 1,000 achievement points, release at least one retail copy on Xbox 360 in a region somewhere in the world, and then tell Microsoft it should be listed under Games on Demand.
