Most wanted was good, but you want magic? NFS underground was the best they ever made, also the last not made compatible with 360. Dammit.
PS: underground 2 ducked monkey wang.

+ a fucking gazillion I despise rubber band AI in racing games. NFS underground was the best they ever made, also the last not made compatible with 360. Dammit.
I actually really enjoyed Hot Pursuit. I just wish the racing in NFS wasn't just so noticeably arcadey. It was somewhat less glaring in Hot Pursuit, but turbo jets and being motivated to run into things sometimes takes a bit away from the racing portion of the game for me.

As for the Burnout franchise, Criterion definitely has not forgotten the series and its many fans. The studio put out the downloadable Burnout Crash! last year, but Ward was mum on the future of Burnout other than to say that the developer "[thinks] about it all the time.
"I think something big will have to happen soon to enable us to do some of the things we want to do." Sounds to me like they're working on something. That, plus: Our stamp's going to be in everything you see in Need for Speed and Burnout going forward in the future. He brought up Burnout, not the other way around.

"Yeah, I think that will help you go faster, jump further, win more races, set faster times..." What a lot of bullshit. Yea, it doesn't do any of that nonsense, but it does allow you to swap your mods and select races without the need to stop your car. It's not in any way a 'needed' thing, but it's a 'nice to have' if you already have your Kinect hooked up.

What a lot of bullshit. no no no, only painting lightning bolts on your car will do that my plan of attack for this one: I'm renting the 360 version through Gamefly, and if I like it I'll be buying the PC version.

My plan is to get the 360 and Vita versions first, and then the PC version in 6 months when it's cheap (I was going to say on Steam, but I'm sure this will be an Origin-only title, so who knows...).

Got in about half an hour with this and am loving it! My best description for this would be..
Think Burnout Paradise, make it bigger and prettier. Now tone down the takedown aspect and highlight the driving stuff. Add in a GTA style wanted system and a buttload more challenges/cars/autolog stuff and you have Most Wanted.
I can't say how this compares to the first Most Wanted title as I never played it, but this one is heaven.

Let me tell you - it's a blessing and a curse. The review schedule can be insanely tight (i.e. you have 2 days to review this RPG before the embargo lifts and everyone else posts THEIR reviews...) or thankfully forgiving (I've had a title for mid-Nov for about 2 weeks now) but it's always a challenge. Realize that we send out our reviews to anyone and everyone that will hear it from us, and that's a lot of pressure to 'get it right'. There are certainly days where I think "You know...I would rather just pick up the game on launch day like everyone else". heheheheh
Glad you enjoyed the review though, and I'm glad to see that my experience was the same as yours!

Question for those that have this. What camera options are available? I like playing racing games from inside the car. I hate chase cam for sure and might be able to tolerate a bumper cam, but really hoping there is something from inside the car.

Chase cam and bumper cam only that I've seen in very limited play. I love in car cameras but for this game the chase view is the best option imo. I accidentally put the bumper cam on and was freaking out until I figured out the left bumper on the controller changed the views. Also this is a controller game and not a wheel game, the driving is really setup for the controller, I will try my steering wheel when I get a chance. The game is really fun! Tried some single player and was having a blast right from the start even though I was chatting to Hark while help screens were scrolling on and off so I have no real idea on some things but hey drive fast, avoid cops, find cars seems to work. Jumped into a multiplayer public game and had a blast, griefing isn't a problem since it is part of the game play and you recover quickly from a takedown. I have a Kinect hooked up and it was causing a few issues since I was chatting to Hark and the Kinect would bring up a menu every so often. Once I have more time I'll find out how well it actually works in the game.

I would stay away from the PC version, apparently it has inconsistent performance and a dodgy frame rate even on higher pc's.
I also don't like the fact it seems to. We no progression as such, most cars are available lstraight away and it's 4 races per car and move on, personally I prefer to use a few fav cars rather than all of th em, still something to pick up nearer Xmas when it gets cheaper.

That's actually not what the Giant Bomb guys had to say at all. They said the 360 version had dodgy, inconsistent frame rate and the PC version looked much better and ran super smooth. I still have the 360 version, so hopefully it's not too bad.

Unfortunately no. I played for a couple of hours last night on the 360. It's a good racer. The open world works well, with seamless transitions into races. I played long enough to take down #10 on the most wanted roster. I spent a lot of time just driving around exploring and picking up new cars along the way. If you want some times/scores to beat, feel free to add me. Xboxtag: Roguetad

The only thing missing is an easy way to see what races/medals you have already completed or need to still get gold in. As it is, you have to physically switch to a car then look in your race list to see what you might have left to do.
Maybe there's an indicator or something when you get gold in all races for a specific car; since I have yet to do that, I wouldn't know.

well, played a bit and I can see it's Paradise City 2.0, which means I'll buy it but not until after a few price drops. I can snag the PC version right now for $27.50, but I'll wait until it's around $15.

I'm an avid subtitles user so problem fixed! Btw, in the vita version she is a bit soft spoken, not too bad though. Does the ps3/360 versions have subtitles?
