I want to like this game, and I'm absolutely the target audience. I love story-heavy point and click adventures.... <snippity-snip> At this point, I'm debating whether or not I want to finish it. It kills me that a game that should be an absolute slam dunk for me is missing so badly, but there it is.
Dead-on assessment of how I feel about the game. It just seemed to have so much potential... so sad. I agree 100%.

Reminder......I think this is the last day for the Rockstar Pass on sale ($10). Includes all past and future DLC.
Nicholson Electroplating Case comes out tomorrow.
Even if you do not own the game but think you are buying it in the future, I would buy the Pass now.

Gah...is it just me or does the xbox.com site give out errors a lot lately when trying to add points to your account in order to buy something? It happened last week when I was trying to buy Magic 2012, now it's happening for the rockstar pass.

Not sure if this was posted, but this is hilarious. NSFW due to some swearing.

I finally finished this up today and have to say that I have some really mixed feelings about it in the end. The concept behind the game is great, and the whole things starts really well, but once you hit the arson desk, it limps toward an ending that left me pretty unsatisfied. I was really enjoying the investigations and driving around the city initially, but by the end, it all felt very tedious becuase they failed to introduce anything new as the game progressed. The interview mechanic is very cool at first, watching the highly detailed facial expressions to make decisions, but you're ultimately still left guessing because the evidence system doesn't always make sense, and your decisions don't really affect the outcome of the game anyway. The technology of the game is impressive, but once that shine wears off there isn't much left. LA Noire isn't a bad game by any means, but I found myself going from initial impressions that it was potential GOTY material, to forcing myself to work through repetitive gameplay just to see the ending.
I really like the ambition that went into producing LA Noire, however, and hope that we see a lot of the game's technology put to use in the future.
