I've been following this on the PC, but it's also coming to the 360 and PS3. We just got word that the 360 version will get first crack at all future DLC for the game; more details are supposed to be given out next week. For those of you who haven't been following this game, think Red Dawn but with Koreans

It was part of what inspired the creation of this game. MW2 showed initial urban occupation, but there were no civvies, just military troops. HF addresses that aspect.

I am in two minds whether to get this game when it comes out over Dragon Age 2
hear me out first
Dragon Age 2 comes out 11 march for me,and Homefront comes out 18th March,i am not the richest person right now,so likely i will only be able to afford one game if any
now,Dragon Age 2 i can play anytime really its a single player game, but Homefront its obvious its going to be Online where the action is,and i would rather get in on the action from the start..for example,i haven't bought BFBC2:Vietnam as i feel i have left it too long
saying that though i was late to the game for COD:BO and that still has plenty of players, and also i am currently replaying Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition(about 10 hrs in main quest, then i have the DLC to do)..and i also have a growing backlog of games
what do you think i should do?

rob a bank and get both. as finicky as non-COD MP is around here I'm guessing Homefront MP is going to die out sooner rather than later.

CCTV means i would have a hard time trying to rob a bank in this day and age(...yeah..okay...i have thought about it) How is MoH MP doing?,is that still going strong(was it ever strong)?...Homefront FWIW does look like it has good online, but perhaps you are right, and i should wait a week or two(giving me enough time with DA2)

I have it preordered but I'm playing a lot of Rift so I'm hoping to see some reviews.

Personally, if the biggest complaint I have against a game is that it doesn't last long enough, I think that's fine. I'd much rather have a good campaign that I can finish, that a mediocre one that I never will.
But yes, I do hope the MP is fun. I can't imagine it will be as polished as BFBC2, but I hope for some cool things that are unique to Homefront.

I keep hearing these reviews talk about games being 5 or 6 hours long, but I have yet to play one of these that's less than 8 for me.
I agree with Engine, though, if it's really great, I don't care how short it is (within reason, I guess).

At five hours I am glad I am renting. I was really hoping for something with a little more substane than a cod clone, especially as the mp doesn't seem all that different from the masses of modern military shooters. Amazingly, I am more excited for socom 4 than homefront now and I would not have said that six months ago. As said earlier, the potential this game had dwarfed its reality.

Yeah, with my playstyle I tend to take a bit longer than average to complete a game, and compared to a reviewer who is just busting through the game I think I take considerably longer.

For some reason I thought this was something more like the old PC game Freedom Fighters. Looks like a rental to me.

Much like with Frontlines: Fuel of War, which is the previous game (not sure about story-wise), SP is secondary to the MP for my interests. The SP in Frontlines wasn't great, but it was decent and had a couple of interesting moments. The MP was really good and what I've seen of Homefront looks like they have polished the MP even more.
Being rewarded for team play with points that you can use to buy whichever piece of equipment/vehicle you need at that moment, plus the way the game is supposed to task increasing numbers of enemies with taking out whoever is doing the best sounds like a lot of fun. Of course it also tasks more and more friendlies to help cover the person on their team that is doing well.
May sound better in theory than practice, but, I'm willing to give it a shot. Knightshade Dragon seemed to enjoy his time with the game earlier this year, so that is also a positive.

the online pass has just appeared on the Playstation Store for £6.29/€7.99...new copies of course have the pass included in the box which TBH is a little bit more annoying,i can see the way EA have done it with Mass Effect as Online is not the main part of the game, but when its a game that most of us will be playing online, its not really a good idea, people have bought the game that should be enough... compared to Mass Effect the online part is not meant to be a bonus like the Cerberus network is/was,it's part of the package!!in other words,it means i have to buy this brand new or not at all(or buy the pass of the marketplace),and i am getting more and more put off by this as time goes by EDIT:Ahh nevermind,i just read this part...still annoying though Users without an online pass will reportedly still be able to play Homefront's online component, but the experience will be capped. While all of the shooter's multiplayer maps will be available, players won't be able to pass level five out of 75 experience levels.

I guess i can understand it to some point,i actually thought the EA way of doing it was a good idea(as in free DLC on day one)...but for actual MP,i think signing up for an EA or THQ account would be enough(or Konami i guess) renting their games or buying them pre-owned i suppose does anger them a lot

renting their games or buying them pre-owned i suppose does anger them a lot It's lost revenue. I'm amazed they let it go on that way for so long. But you're right at least some companies are masking it in VIP/extra content clothes.

Tbh, I wish EA had done this with MoH as I never played much mp and I could have saved the code. Would have got more for it in resale value. As long as they don't make it a time limit, I would totally accept this kind purchase lockout for any mp game that forces the issue. I will still prefer to have it all free but I doubt that will remain the status quo for much longer.

Yeah, the reviews are all over the board for this one. Everything from a 50 to a 93, so the Metacritic average is about 72 right now. I got the PC version so hopefully I will get a chance to try that out tonight and see for myself.

The review scores seems to reflect how much they weigh the disappointment of the SP campaign versus the happiness with the MP. I'd only be getting it for the MP, so I'm leaning towards buying it tomorrow.

dedicated servers are down. Private matches work and 16 player matches work, but they are hosted by someone else and most people choke on 16 players so it's laggy

Really like the pace of the MP. I totally suck at it so far, but I'm sure I'll improve. I'm a little concerned that it will have the "rich get richer" effect like MW2 seeing as getting more kills gets you bonus stuff which makes it easier to kill, and so on. Will have to see how it plays out.
