Very much looking forward to playing all though the game again and listening to people saying 'Nought' waaaay too many times I would still like to know however,if this version that is to be released will not only have the Expansion but all past available DLC as well, like a Game of the Year release..or in Capcom's world- a Super Dragon's Dogma if you like (and a separate achievement list )

I'm looking forward to this. I really enjoyed Dragon's Dogma. It's one of the few rpgs that I played through non-stop. Being able to switch classes was awesome for me, keeping me from starting multiple alts.

convincing Capcom to make DDDirector Hideaki Itsuno discussed the development of Dragon's Dogma at the Game Developers Conference today, outlining the struggles he had in creating the game.
Among the many subjects covered by Itsuno in the talk, titled Behind the Scenes of Dragon's Dogma, the director explained just how hard he found selling the game's concepts to Capcom, and some of the sacrifices he had to make to remain on budget.
Itsuno says that in 2008, when work on Dragon's Dogma began in earnest, “open-world hadn't reached the mainstream, especially in Japan.” Indeed, such was the Capcom's insularity that even Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was “almost unheard of” at the publisher.
The biggest problem Itsuno faced, however, was communicating the potential of Dragon's Dogma's Pawn system.
In Dragon's Dogma, each player has access to Pawns; AI-controlled players with customisable abilities. These Pawns can then be shared online between players, picking up knowledge, rewards and experience as they go.
However, Itsuno wasn't able to convince Capcom that it was a fun idea. Conceived at a time when social functionality wasn't common in games, the publisher just didn't understand Pawns' potential. Itsuno reckons that many of Capcom's bosses only properly understood Pawns once they played the retail version of the game.
Beyond this, Itsuno also outlined how Dragon's Dogma's world shrank during development. At one point it was twice as big as the final release, with a hang glider or kite used to travel to the more far flung regions. You were also able to travel to the moon, but the content was eventually cut thanks to budget restictions.
Dragon's Dogma released in May last year, selling over one million copies and earning wide praise from critics. An expansion, Dark Arisen is coming out next month. FWIW-it is a quite different game than what we are used to seeing from Capcom,I'm glad they went with it though

I will be playing from the start Eurogamer has a new review of it here and gave it 8/10 Also there is this for those who were wondering, posted by a mod http://www.capcom-unity.com/dragonsdogma/go/thread/view/122057/29885337/question-about-dark-arisenDD:DA comes with all DLC that was released for DD.
And your save can be used from DD (no matter where you are) into DD:DA.
No need to buy dlc for DD, if you plan to get Dark Arisen. really glad about that,as there are all those 100 DLC small missions and other stuff

from the Eurogamer review: While their chatter grates at times (the voice actors have been pitch-shifted to match the size of the pawn, and as a result short characters sound like a helium-drunk Julie Andrews, tall ones like a groggy Andre the Giant), I want a munchkin brigade!

found a Youtube video showing off the HD visuals(don't get too excited) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PnJ9JnhzAqY(don't forget to change the settings to 720) I honestly could not tell them apart until they got underground, then i could tell with the surroundings looking sharper....a lot more screen tear than i remember as well However, this Youtube comment has taken all the excitement out of this if true Basically the downgraded the textures to fit the arisen expansion on the same disc then released the hd pack to bump the quality back to normal.

fired it up and checked out my old save. went to see what stuff Winter had waiting but all the entries on the list of people who gave stuff said 'invalid entry'. totally forgot that there is only one save slot, so if I restart she will go away... I'm kind of torn... do I replace Winter with Summer?

Are saves transferring on the 360? I'm thinking about picking this up, despite the fact that the original never completely clicked with me. I don't want to start over, though.

yep, they transfer over. when I fired up my old save it gave me a bunch of extra stuff, but when I started a new game I didn't get anything.

when they are starting up the game and coming to the menu screen, there is no Load option appearing for them(they say they have a DD save on their HDD)..if CK had no problems then perhaps its just a handful of people who are having this problem, but there are people who have a PS3 and a 360 in that thread,so if it is happening, its not just one system

looking at that thread it appears they are missing both 'Load Game' and 'Speed Run' from their main menu. not sure if it matters but I ended up installing the HD textures first (since they were on the disc that said 'install'), then the game itself from the second disc.

they just make the game look like it was before- they had to lower the textures to get everything on one disc.

aha! noticed that one of the messages that pops up when the game loading said 'offline mode', so I went into options and found out the game was defaulting to that mode for some reason. flipped the toggle and bobs your uncle.

yeah, she's gone. Got rid of that save after I started a new game + and managed to kill that one drake near the lake in about 30 seconds; figured I wanted to replay the game but that was just too easy. Summer seems more bloodthirsty, and has an annoying habit of not casting Fire Boon right away like Winter did. I did notice that pawns in general seem to be more grabby now though, and it seems rift crystals are not as plentiful.

I was about half way through DD when I stopped. If I pick this version up, should I restart to get new content? Or is the new content available (and worth it) for previously saved characters?

not sure if this answers you or not but my local ebgames says that the new disk has the old content complete game as well. I'm trading in bioshock later today for this. they are offering Dragons Dogma expansion for free with tradeins over 15 bucks. sounds like a deal to me.

I'm at the part where I just helped the French chick escort the llama head from the Pawn camp through the mountain canyons to the main city and haven't encountered anything new; I cannot remember how far into the story that part was though.

CeeKay, When you started your new character, did you get to keep the 100,000 rift currency and infinite ferrystone that came with loading the expansion? It's not a big deal and I'm going to start over anyway, I was just curious if they carried over to the new character, since it seems they are rewards for having owned the original and the expansion.

Once it detects your save and brings that in, all characters you make will get that stuff.

I wonder if something went wrong with my game then, because I definitely don't have 100K rift currency or the infinite ferrystone. I'm a bit too far in to try another character to see if it was just a fluke though. [edit] just searched through another forum and saw mention that loading up your old save first can screw with getting the reward. they recommend deleting the Dark Arisen data to fix it, not in front of the 360 right now so I'm not quite sure what that means.

Hmm, it sounds like the handling of this expansion has not exactly been smooth or bulletproof. I haven't started playing yet and I wonder if I should just wait for a patch to clear up some of these issues.

I made my new character last night. I'm enjoying getting back into the game. I even took a peek at the Dark Arisen area. I was a bit surprised it was available to a new character since it's high level content, but what I saw looks cool. Like CeeKay, I did not get the 100k RCs or the infinite ferrystone on my new character.
