from Capcom comes a new open world adventure (yes, the one from the announcement of an announcement for an upcoming announcement thread). Judging from the trailer (and the 'created by' blurb) you can tell this is going to be twitch based (plus the whole action experience mentioned later). for some reason the description is giving me a Demon's Souls vibe, where combat can be a pain but once you master it it will feel rewarding (or you'll need a new controller from throwing it). what would be neat is if there is a co-op component they haven't announced yet. they mention partner characters but no MP. (this space for rent)

very much looking forward to this, infact it may very well be my most anticipated Capcom release they have announced that a demo will be happening(they have said for Europe, but no doubt NA will get it as well),and you will be able to transfer your demo character across to the full game http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-03-01-dragons-dogma-demo-confirmed-for-europeThe demo includes two of the game's character classes and two encounters. Pick the Fighter, the game's melee specialist, and you battle through underground tunnels before fighting the Chimera in a Prologue quest set before the events of the main game.
Pick the Strider class, which uses a bow and dagger, and you take on the Griffin in open plains around the capital of Gransys.

pawns & class/skills system. Players in Dragon’s Dogma will have one set Pawn that they have created from the ground up, and up to 2 others that they may hire at their convenience. Initially, the video demonstrates the use of ‘rift stones,’ which take players into a lobby of sorts. There, players can peruse the various Pawns on display and hire them using rift crystals. These Pawns can be prefabricated, or they can be the customized Pawns of other players. In this way, Dragon’s Dogma allows players to hire out other players’ Pawns and use their uniquely tailored skills to get through situations they might not have anticipated with their current character builds. Upon terminating the services of a Pawn, the player can rate him or her based on several criteria, such as appearance and usefulness.
As if this system of hiring and firing player-created mercenaries was not interesting enough, Dragon’s Dogma has another interesting Pawn feature up its sleeve. Pawns will gain knowledge of quests and monsters based on their exposure to them. During gameplay, Pawns will shout out helpful tips as they discover them, such as enemy weak points. This feature plays out on a much deeper level when the Pawn has been hired from another player. If that Pawn has previously faced a monster with his or her “owner,” then he or she will shout out the enemy’s weak points. that sounds seriously cool. can't wait to try out some of y'all's pawns. In Dragon’s Dogma, players can level up their specific classes, unlocking unique class-based skills and abilities in the process. When player’s are tired of playing one class, they can switch to another class (after paying some gold) and take the abilities they’ve learned with them. This allows players to create intensely complex characters, mixing abilities and skills from several classes. Controller interface in Dragon’s Dogma also allows for more of these skills to be used on-the-fly. also sounds cool. it's like respeccing but keeping everything you knew beforehand while opening up a new set of skills.

I have been looking forward to this for awhile but, after watching the latest videos posted by metallicorphan and CeeKay, my anticipation has ramped up significantly. While I'm sure I will be obsessed by D3, I can see Dragon's Dogma taking a significant chunk of gaming time away from Sanctuary. I'm amazed by the way your pawns can learn about quests/enemies while they're out with another player and then give you guidance when you encounter those quests/enemies in your own game.

I am so hyped for this game. Skyrim bores me to tears due to its lame combat (saying that hurts me as I've always been a huge Elder Scrolls fan, but I just can't get into Skyrim), but this game looks wonderful.

Thats ok. I am burnt out on skyrim due to sinking 150 hours into it or so. Results are the same, we need new games!

Man, I am really bummed Skyrim never clicked with me. I will probably give it one more chance, but I am not hopeful. I should probably just plow through the main quest.

If you own the game already, try this when you get the chance. Make a Khajit assassin/thief. Put your points into marksmen, one handed, and sneaking, etc. Go for the thieves guild and assassins guild. You do things like sneak around, steal stuff... assassinate people without anyone else catching you. Long shots with the bow, etc. It is really quite interesting.

Yeah, I do play the game sneaking around with the bow. I try never to get in melee if I can. Definitely going to try again. I just started playing Witcher 2 again, though, so will probably wait.

yea, I am going to put witcher 1 on hold and start witcher 2 and grimrock tonight. So, yea, just let skyrim sit there till we get bored. heh
They keep making it better while we wait. But yea, ruffing people up for thieves guild, and the whole sneaking around, murdering for the undead night mother / dark brotherhood, stabbing folks in the back.. might get you interested in the game.

This looks great . . . But any time I try an action-rpg that doesn't have souls in the title I seem to end up disappointed. Amalur bored me to death. Hope this breaks the trend.

i know but they do usually look similar when they do these things included thickness,i remember the Skyrim doing the same, and Batman being a rough estimate 'drawing' of what was to be released
