Hmmm. Dead space meets Lost Planet?
Looks to be more action oriented based on the video. Hope they didn't ruin the formula that made the previous 2 games a release day buy for me.

You mean co-op I presume instead of SP. Since they are keeping both modes, SP and Co-op, completely separate, you have to choose one or the other, I still think SP will be as good as 1 and 2.

Well they've said there's story elements that are only available in Co-op, so I hope by playing the SP I don't miss out on a lot of story. I love me some Dead Space lore.

Watching the stream replay.
I wonder if the demo would have been better off if they had shown the whole intro, and not just cut to post crash. The intro to Dead Space 2 was one of the most striking things that got me hooked on the game.
One thing I noticed was that the military rifle you crafted seemed to do a lot to the basic necromorphs, instead of being a more situational/accuracy oriented weapon. Nice to see the plasma cutter is still the tool of choice.
Still, considering most demos are tweaked to be easy, we'll see how this turns out.

Yeah, the demo was definitely tuned to easy. I had plenty of ammo the entire time. Still it seems to capture that same vibe of the predecessors, while still being kinda creepy. I'm looking forward to it.

The demo was also definitely cut up chunks of other levels mashed together with plot taken out.
Did they get a different voice actress for Ellie?
Also, what's with all the gun toting zombies now? Admittedly, how they handle it is way better than RE6.
I also noticed that the military rifle was muuuuuuuch less effective against everything else except for the most basic enemies. I also like the idea of the new weapon crafting system, it gives more things to loot, without being totally level and loot based.
On the other hand, the demo was shooting focused, so cue the angry legions who will cry that the horror element is dead, but we'll have to see if that's really true since demos tend to be cut towards action.
Oh, and this is the first time I felt the 360 starting to show its age. Having played DS2 on PC with the details as high as they could go, this footage of DS3 gameplay made me remember how old consoles are now.

I don't think they're all gun toting zombies. I think some of the guys are actual soldiers, and other guys are being controlled by those spider baby things. As for graphics... yeah, I'm glad I pre-ordered on PC.

Just so you know, they haven't shown the space sections of the game. Apparently there's big parts where you float out in space crawling through a bunch of abandoned ships.

I feel a little better about co-op after that. I've loved the Dead Space series, but cooperative horror isn't exactly something we've seen before.

good stuff,I still probably wont be touching Co-Op,i have enjoyed DS1 and 2 as they were..only a few games actually appeal to me with Co-Op,this isn't one of them(and neither is Resident Evil just so you know),although the mentioned RPG sounds like it could be good if it happened I hope DS3 is not a let down,as i am getting a bad feeling when i read that its now based on an open Icy Planet rather than the usual cramped corridors of a derelict space station/ship The Dead Space 3 demo is now up on XBL=1.93GB

That's good to know, after reading the interview I was concerned it would primarily take place in open spaces. I want hallways!

Yeah, I cancelled my digital download and went with that (assuming PSN deems me worthy to give a refund - they are very squirrely about it).

Yeah, that is a bit silly, but you can make all sorts of reasonings for it. There is that above, and, from an artistic standpoint, they're just making the animation more interesting so that the player better feels the cold and isolation of him. Or his mask might only be thin enough to keep the air in, but not the cold out. So, anyone playing on PC? I may need a co-op partner if my friend doesn't get it on PC. Oh and I know a lot of media looks like they' have abandoned the dark and scary spaceship vibe, but just so you know, they haven't shown much of the flotilla levels, where they have gameplay where Isaac is floating through space, boarding and going through a lot of spaceships while he searches for something. This video does happen to show up an early bit of that. Spoilers for the beginning of the game though. It's actually quite a lengthy video too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRh4fvYPZlIFor those not wanting too much of a spoiler, Isaac is going through a scary dark ship, several in fact. What's more interesting is that it sounds like DS3 is going to cover the history of the DS universe a bit more since the planet this is set on has a longer history that directly relates the necromorphs. One of the cool things they show is that the necromorphs actually morph a lot more into new types with new threats, similar to Resident Evil 5 or Gears of War 3 lambent. They did this a bit in DS1 and 2, but only in a few enemies and not that often, and you could mostly expect enemies to go down after you take off some limbs, it made enemies predictable and once you got the pacing of shooting off limbs, for us players who are accurate at shooters, got a bit easy. Now, you'll find yourself worried every time you blast off a limb what the thing will turn into. This is especially true if you shoot off the legs, once the easiest thing to do since they're the thickest and shooting the legs slowed necromorphs down. Unfortunately now they have a higher chance of morphing into faster ground crawling necromorphs, and the normal legless necromorphs also can lunge across the ground, making you want to go after the harder to hit arms.

Actually Ridah, I still think EA is going to do something to mess it up, but the DS team will recover and land gracefully.
I think that thing is the purchasable resources for crafting weapons, aka buyable cheats. But after listening to a few podcasts of people who have played review builds, you get pretty much everything you need to craft weapons through the course of the game, assuming you're actually searching for stuff and not just running around. EA has already done similar things for past games and it didn't harm those games too much. But they have been waaaaaaaaay too aggressive with putting much needed story content into DLC (see mass effect 3).
They also state that the weapon crafting seems to be actually interesting and fun, and not just a flashy bullet point that doesn't impact the game. One podcaster said that he managed to make a Line Gun that rotated just like the Plasma Cutter, just by experimenting, and other combinations were fun to make and use.
On the other hand, all ammo is now universal. Yep, flashbacks to Deus Ex invisible war. Basically smaller less powerful guns would use less ammo.

Yeah, the microtransactions are kind of stupid, but in a single player game they are kind of harmless, assuming they are being honest that it is not a hardship to just come upon the components by playing the game. It just allows people to be lazy if they want to.
