accidentally listed on a South African retailer's website.  seems EA isn't doing so hot with the secrets with the recent Crysis 3 leak.  this very retailer letting the cat out of the bag about the ME3 MP and Jak & Daxter HD Collection.

still, sounds like they're switching things up enough to be interesting.  I haven't finished DS2 yet , so I'm not sure how spoilerific the description might be for people who are in the same boat.

I loved Dead Space 1 (completed it nearly 3 times), but can't really say I'm feeling excited about this sequel. I felt they messed up the final few chapters of Dead Space 2 so badly that I'm afraid of what they'll do this time around.

Seems like a graphic novel preview - maybe a prequel to DS3?

I'm thinking so.

From the website:

Quote
A NEW CHAPTER IN THE DEAD SPACE SAGA

While patrolling the planet Uxor, Earthgov Sergeant John Carver witnesses an attack on the Marker Site he guards which changes his life forever. John must now fight his way through a colony now in complete chaos as he begins to discover how important he is in fighting the Necromorph plague.

This is just the start of John Carver's saga in the Dead Space Universe.

I actually liked the ending of 2 in terms of where it went and the story. However, I agree the gameplay was a bit too crazy in a bad way. They were throwing everything at you, including a time limit monster, with not enough ammo to deal with it all.

Still, I look forward to Dead Space 3. I suspect the character in that video is likely to be the involved with whoever is Isaac's co-op budy, or is the protagonist for the ipad version.

Anyway, considering how things went for the guys in the Dead Space 2 prequel, well, it's not going to end well.

It's really short and reuses a lot of the DS2 enviros.  If you can get it for cheap it was ok I guess.

I'm annoyed to read that some story elements are exclusie to co-op since I doubt I'll ever play it.  That's pretty lame.

Fighting alongside a co-op partner changes the way you play the game. While playing the co-op version of Dead Space 3’s campaign, you will uncover additional story elements, cut-scenes, and battle strategies that are exclusive to this mode. Play how you want - immerse yourself in the classic single-player campaign with Isaac Clarke, then discover how the story evolves when a co-op partner is present in your campaign.

A friend just made a good point about the Co-Op that it may not be as great because the Dead Space games were more about isolation

While there is problems with co-op, I like the implementation where it's optional, and I generally love co-op in games.

Considering the MP for DS3 ended up being pretty lackluster, despite a good concept for it, I'd take co-op over it.

Some info from Joystiq about the SP vs. Coop differences:

Quote
The game changes depending on whether you're playing through the campaign alone or with a friend. Characters change locations and events play out differently, evidenced during my lengthy behind-closed-doors preview session here at E3. Approaching a massive industrial complex, Isaac spies his buddy Carver up on a piece of scaffolding. Carver yells down to Clarke, before he's attacked suddenly by a group of Necromorphs. He opens fire but soon has to withdraw, leaving Isaac to deal with a massive cicada-esque monster below.

Should you play in co-op mode, though, Carver and Clarke are together at the start of the scene. Their little exchange doesn't happen and the two take on the cicadamorph together. EA is billing it as two different campaigns in one, though the changes – at least seen here – come off as a neat bit of fan service, more than anything that actually alters the events of the game. However, taking on a boss monster with a friend at your side definitely changes the balance of the battle.

EA-Dead Space 1 and 2 were too scary,that's why we added Co-Op

Yes and no.

RE5 I actually enjoyed. The problem with the co-op wasn't co-op itself, but the braindead AI making what should be tense moments into frustration with the AI.

The team promises SP isolation and terror

http://www.deadspace.com/news/article/depth-look-terror

Summary:

Quote
As you probably know, online co-op is a feature new to Dead Space, but if you fire up the game as a solo player, Isaac will be on his own in classic style: Carver won’t be following you around, and while you’ll see him from time to time over the course of Dead Space 3, he’s got demons to take care of on his own. If you decide to play co-op, you’ll discover places and situations where two people are really needed... and of course Carver’s own story will twine more closely with Isaac’s. No matter how you play there are plenty of optional areas to explore, so you can seek out even more Dead Space lore and gore, if that’s what you want. The choice is yours.

The first two were day 1-purchases for me too, but this time I think I'll pass. It's a shame too, because I loved the first game to death. The second started good but turned infuriatingly bad towards the end. The previews for the third game have been everything but what I want from this series. It's just too bad that every fucking game series ever has to be turned into action-based shooters these days, regardless of where the series started.
