I think the 360 will be a bigger threat than the PC to the sales numbers of the XB1 version, but it'll interesting to see how the numbers play out.

I almost think they should have completely scrapped the 360 version.  It just seems lose/lose.  If the port is fantastic, Titanfall becomes less of an XB1 system seller.  If the port is terrible, well, you get a lot of unhappy people complaining about how terrible the port is.  It has to be good enough for people to love it but bad enough for people to be driven to upgrade their system.

Are they doing a 360 > XB1 version upgrade deal like they did for those launch window titles?  Seems like it would be exceedingly foolish not to.

You got to remember this isn't a Microsoft game, and you'd be asking EA to give up even more sales.  MS may have even proposed it but the number EA threw out may have been too high.  Also remember EA wants this to be their CoD, they want to expose as many people as possible, so in that regard going exclusive to one brand may not have been their smartest move.

At the very least it helps EA's public image. It's good to release a game that works out of the gate once in a while (assuming Titanfall will work at launch based on the performance of the beta).

I also think from the XB1 side, the game has the issue of not really being an XB1 exclusive, with what seemed from the beta of an excellent PC version, and the unknown quality of the 360 version.  I feel like MS must have pushed EA to delay that 360 version a couple of weeks to try and drive XB1 sales.

Or we can just take Respawn's word for it - the 360 version is being done by a different developer that needs more time, instead of resorting to ridiculous conspiracy theories designed to imply that XB1 sales are in the toilet.

I took it as MS would want more people to upgrade to the new platform and drive XB1 sales even more, not that XB1 sales are poor and they need Titanfall to drive them.

Sorry, I really shouldn't be bringing the baggage in from other forums on the internet in here, because it does color my perceptions. That's typically where I get myself in trouble. But the general conspiracy around the 'net is that this was to drive poor XB1 sales.

Sounds good from a console war perspective, but I don't think it makes much sense from a business perspective. You're betting on people to spend an extra $500 vs just waiting two weeks. Now I know there are people out there that would do that, but I highly doubt there's enough of them to make intentionally missing a deadline that shareholders were counting on worthwhile.

There's also some talk by analysts that this delay may have been a move by EA to split the high pre-order sales between fiscal years and thus guarantee good earnings for both quarters, which I think is a more realistic scenario. Michael Pachter is estimating over 3.5 million pre-orders so far, 7 million units sold by June, and majority of sales on 360 due to larger install base.

Two weeks is practically nothing in development terms.  Look at Watchdogs and Driveclub as counterpoints, those games have gotten BIG delays for further dev time.

EA would have to be the driver behind the delay though. I'd be hard pressed to see what kind of leverage MS would have to force EA to delay a game so that MS could sell more XB1s. What would EA gain? I doubt they really give a fuck how many XB1's MS sells - their games are selling on both 360, PS3, and PS4 quite well. Which is why I think the earnings-split scenario sounds more realistic if you believe the development time is a cover story.

360 version still set to come out before quarter end though.

I also find the complete lack of media for the 360 version a bit odd.  I don't think we've seen a single screenshot of that version have we?

The Neogaf thread has gotten a few updates and has a pretty well fleshed out list of maps and perks and such.

A few things that jumped out at me:
  • 15 maps!
  • "The 'Icepick' is a modified Data Knife that increases the speed with which you can hack Spectres and turret control panels."  - turrets!
  • Cluster Missile (Titan) - "fires a missile which, on impact, deploys a shower of secondary explosive charges that continue to explode and saturate an area for a considerable time."   drool
  • Multi-Target Missile System (Titan) - "hold down the Ordnance Ability control and sweep your view over your targets to paint them, then release to fire the missiles at the painted targets"   drool
  • Mag Launcher (anti-Titan weapon) - "fires magnetic grenades ... will veer toward nearby enemy Titans and Spectres and detonate on impact"
  • Particle Wall (Titan tactical) - "stationary force-field that blocks all incoming fire on one side while allowing weapons to fire through it from the other"

Mag launcher was in the beta through burn cards, it was pretty vicious.  Picture the arc grenades, now make them magnetic like with the 'shock rocks' card, now throw a bunch of them rapidly great distances.  was brutal

According to this, there is a prestige system (called "generation ranks") that goes up 10 levels.  The max level for a single generation is likely 50, and it sounds like you get experience faster after prestiging generationing.

So, it sounds exactly like Call of Duty's prestige system (at least, the last CoD game I played regularly).

Lol.

So does this mean that Titanfall has a Black Ops esque recording/editing feature? OR was that just the kill cam replay?

I think thats the killcam,i usually skip straight away and Respawn(heh) unless i am puzzled on how i died,I have noticed on a few occasions that the enemy are shooting me for longer in the killcam than it seems from my POV,which is an old COD/Lag fault

I'm guessing since he got killed by a grunt they do a 3rd person killcam instead of the usual 1st person killcam.  (Thank goodness I don't know firsthand what happens when a grunt kills you!)

Were the nuke kills just a function of how close they were to the blast? I've noticed in some videos that the titan explosion doesn't seem to faze other titans near it.

Should have figured.  Btw, Hark I got my mumble issues fixed so I should be good for Marvel Heroes.  Had to run out yesterday and couldn't jump back into the game.   Anyway, should have some time for playing this evening

Titanfall Xbox One bundle on March 11: $500

Oddly doesn't come with the Titanfall branded controller; it's just the same Xbox package with extra code cards thrown in for a Titanfall download and a month of Live.
