Titanfall is a game that offers many advantages to people who arenít very good at first-person shooters.

The game doesnít tilt the scales in favor of the still-learning, the older or the slow, but it does provide less-skilled players many ways to excel. It doesnít offer anyone a better way to play, exactly. But it does go out of its way to offer many different ways of playing, depending on your skill set.

If you believe your existence in the Call of Duty series is mostly to act as a punching bag, this may be the game youíve been waiting for.

It's really not OP because it is primarily helpful against the AI bots which are not too hard to kill. With a human you they have to be in your sights long enough for you to get 3 locks on them and pull the trigger. By then, they've probably killed you first, or they're not looking at you, which means you might have killed them with a standard weapon as well. But it is helpful for people who aren't great shots for contributing.

Yeah, the gun seems absurd on paper but from what I've seen and read so far it looks really well balanced.

At least some end-scenarios have the losing team fleeing to a dropship you can try and blow up!

Hmm, having an odd issue with the PC version. It has something to do with VSync - even though I'm getting a rock solid 60FPS, it feels like I'm experiencing framerate drops. When I disable VSync the problem goes away.

I'm trying to investigate but not many people have the game yet.

Good to know I'm not the only one experiencing the issue, here's someone else's impression:

As far as performance goes, I did notice a slight problem with vertical sync. It seems to make the camera jitter if you have either double or triple buffering v-sync on.

Investigation continues!

I've read a possible fix to my xb1 problem is to get an in-game invite from someone playing, then I will be prompted to download the game.  If any of you get in there, do it.

Code distribution is on hold while they "sort out some issues with the servers."

At least the beta is serving its purpose.

Well at least we're in this togeth--I got a code from another forum!  So long, sucker!

Er, so long sucker as soon as I finish fighting the Xbone UI.  What does it mean when the install status just keeps toggling between "queued" and "Installing... 0%" ?

My impression is that it takes forever for my Xbone to download 12GB.  Trying to figure out if the servers are slow or if it's my ISP's fault.

I've only played a few hours so far but it's a lot of fun. Most people, including myself, don't have the wall run and double jump hard-coded into their routines yet, so I haven't seen a lot of vertical momentum in the combat. The Titans are very, very interesting. You have a lot more access to your Titan than I was expecting, at least in Attrition mode which is all I've tried so far. I would say probably 30-35% of the match you will have your Titan.

I can see this game having the potential to be one of the best multiplayer shooters ever made. This is the thing to bear in mind though: If multiplayer shooters never did anything for you before, or you've gotten burnt out on them over the years, or you don't have the time to spend honing your skills on a regular basis, Titanfall won't change anything for you. I used to play Counter Strike religiously, but now when I try to play MP shooters I fatigue very quickly. It's no different in Titanfall - I find myself fatiguing in about as much time as I would playing other MP shooters. So while it might be an amazing MP shooter, it's still just that.

For those of you who live and breath the likes of CoD, BF, Counter Strike, etc., I think you're about to discover your new obsession.

My download finally finished, and my gracious wife said she was fine with me interrupting Valentine's Day a bit to try it out... and so of course the servers are down.   crybaby  Devs are saying it's something MS has to fix with the Azure servers.  Ah well, better now than at full release.  And I think they extended the alpha a few days because of issues faced then, so hopefully this means this beta will run a bit longer.

My data shows XB1 version is 5gb or so.  Still waiting on a code though.  (and for the record, I don't understand why people still type xbone, it's longer AND stupid)

Holy carp this game is amazing. I was able to bypass the server woes by connecting to one of the Asia servers, and just played the tutorial and one match. I'm with Teggy, this is not just another CoD game with robots added.

They do an amazing job making you feel like you're in a gigantic battle, at least in the one map I saw. Aside from the AI soldiers, there are fighter jets flying overhead and assorted other atmospheric things going on all over. I also got the impression of an endless landscape I could explore, instead of the CoD feeling of being in the set confines of an arena. Could just be my goo goo eyes over inflating the draw distance or something though.

The Titans add such an awesome array of matchups what with all the variations of being in or out, escorted or not, multiplied by every ally or enemy nearby.

My one match was such a blast. The only thing I can think to complain about (other than the broken servers) is that I couldn't figure out how to quickly tell at a glance if an enemy was a dumb AI grunt or an actual player. Not a good idea to mix that up when prioritizing targets.

Really been enjoying this, and played for most of the night even though i was sick

The AI in the game makes me think of Star Wars Battlefront(although SWBF had lots more),maps are a decent size not mega massive but decently big and the graphics are quite nice

I also like the epilogue thing at the end of the match

with there not being a single player in the full game i do hope they give us a decent number of maps to make up for that

Love the grenade kills from above after your eject.

I'm thinking about getting a pair of those runner leashes for the backyard for the kids.  I figure if they have that extra freedom of movement I can probably get a few hours of the living room to myself.

Do you guys use the "always run" setting? It doesn't seem like slowing down makes as much sense in this game as CoD but I've left it on the standard settings so far.
