Cinematic trailer that makes me want a Blizzard feature film

Gameplay trailer that makes me want to play the game

Game website that already has info about individual heroes and screams out that this will probably be a F2P hero-purchasing game

Beta signup that is actually just the same link as above but I wanted to call out that there is already a beta signup

A Team Fortress 2 clone made by Blizzard?

Alright, I'm out. There's not even a single thing in that gameplay trailer that appeals to my interests. Looks like a solid game, but it's just a total miss when it comes to genre and style for me, I'm afraid.

I'm sure Valve is worried right now, as this looks to be the most serious competition TF2 has ever had.

Looks very similar to TF2, but I would bet they're creating the characters with more mind towards DOTA/LOL so they can continue to release them as time goes on.

Looks beautiful, but like TiLT I have zero interest in the genre. Pass.

Not my cup o' tea either but I sure do enjoy the cinematics.  thumbsup

In case anyone was wondering, there's a quote in this Kotaku article that "Overwatch is a reworked version of the PVP portions of Blizzard's Titan, the long-in-development MMO that was overhauled in mid-2013. Despite reports earlier this year that Titan had been cancelled, the game actually morphed into Overwatch last year, according to a person familiar with the project."

I was surprised I didn't see any creeps anywhere.  When the gameplay video started I thought for sure I was about to see a TF2 / Monday Night Combat mashup.

I feel exactly the same way. I'm tired of shooters in general, and I hate multiplayer shooters even more.

Boring!

Only problem is that many others have tried and failed at this. The blizzard name could carry it, it has for a lot of things. But games like Monday Night Combat have shown issues with translating MOBA to FPS.

I'm torn between my love Blizzard games and my disinterest in team-based shooters.  I really hope they do like Battleborn and include a single-player mode.

I thought hearthstone looked lame and I love that game, so I figure this will be about the same.

Saw this at Blizzcon today and the gameplay looked really good. Will be getting in line tomorrow to play on one of the 600 pc's they have setup for it. Lines were mega long for it today.

+1. The cinematic was great (Power Glove FTW!), but I was disappointed when I realized it was just a TF2 clone (albeit, probably a very good one). At the very least, I was hoping for it to be a Borderlands clone.

I played the hell out of this at BlizzCon and will be posting my impressions soon. If you think Overwatch is anything like TF2 or any other shooter you've played before, you're absolutely wrong.

Nice teaser lol!  From what I saw it looked most like Monday Night Combat with much better fleshed out characters to me.  There was another game with a fantasy theme that it reminded me of too, but the name escapes me.

On the one hand Blizzard games have always been pretty compelling for me, but on the other as mentioned in other threads FPS is just not my genre.  I think the best I can hope for is that one of the characters will be different enough to fit/click with me.  This means a class that doesn't require a lot of jumping and aiming skills lol.

Blizzard explicitly said that they do not want Overwatch to only be accessible to "twitch" style players, there are defensive and support classes that are focused on healing, buffing, and utility (like building turrets, for example).

They're also making references to how they want to keep system specs reasonable, so yeah, I think PC only.  I hope console versions aren't far behind -- controllers are so much easier on me as far as repetitive stress these days.

I was thinking that blizzard games have so much iteration at first that they almost have to wait for a console version until 7-8 patches are out since it's so much easier to balance on PC.

That sounds excellent!

Now if I could build mushroom turrets that did healing and support, I'd be in heaven lol (DAOC reference).

It's not just the support classes that are going to be non-twitch.  They've said that a lot of the ultimate moves are going to be more about positioning and timing than any sort of mouse aiming skills.

It's similar to an MMO or MOBA in that there are abilities with cooldown times. Pretty much everything - there are exceptions - except for the Hero's main ability has a cool-down after use.
