Still not sold on the whole idea of GoW, wasn't entirely impressed with Mr. B's demo-walkthrough-thing at e3 - but the horror-ish aspect is intriging.  Shooting / peeking over walls seems so kill.switch.

ok... honestly here, could someone explain all the excitement about this game to me?  I saw some videos, read some impressions, but didn't pick up on anything really beyond what we've already seen as far as gameplay for a shooter.

Am I missing something?  I'm hoping so...

Ditto.

I mean it looks nice, but past that I'm lost as to why all the hype.

It's the destructable (and believable) environments and using cover in something similar to ither miliary shooters, except with more finesse.

I'm hoping it turns out to be more like Halo, rather than Brute Force.

It's basically the next quality shooter franchise.  Similar to Halo, it's main call to fame is a little bit of innovation, and a whole lot of polish.

Other than that there's not much entirely new and flashy to the game.  Seeing the videos, I know I'm going to buy it because the gameplay just felt right.

I don't see the hype.  It's a pretty FPS that really isn't bringing anything extremely noteworthy to the table.

The stuff you couldn't see at E3 was pretty fun.  Playing team deathmatch against the Frag Dolls was kinda fun.  I enjoyed wiping out their entire squad single-handedly 3 times.   Yea, and they get paid for this...

Honestly, the graphics and the gore are the biggest lure here I believe.

Ron played it MP against the Frag Dolls or PMS Clan (forget which) and he was very impressed with it.  I'll let him explain why, but I have to believe that if he gives it his thumbs up, especially on a game like this, it will be worth the money.

I think the polished gameplay will be the draw to the game.

I mean, Blizzard games are nothing new right?  And technically, they aren't exactly high end games.  The reason why people buy Blizzard games is the polish they put on the game, and the very fine tuned gameplay.

Same goes for Gears of War and Halo.

It's not an FPS, it's a third-person shooter.  I actually wish it was an FPS . . .

That aside, it's an interesting looking shooter for a console that doesn't really have a defined shooter yet.  It's also the first shooter that looks remotely next gen.

Next-gen can mean anything you want it to.  Whether or not it looks next-gen, Gears of War looks unbelievable.

Anyone know if there will be bots available for playing multiplayer modes by yourself?  These types of games usually don't, but coming from Epic, I'm hoping it might.

I'd really like to see the game and be wowed by it before they start calling it a franchise.

GRAW is a tactical shooter, which is more than a bit different from a shooter.

CoD2 is great but suffers from the same problems all cross-platform games do, mainly that it isn't optimized for any one of them.

I bought Prey on day one so I don't have any excuse for not buying Gears of War.

One could argue that being on the Unreal 3 engine (and being an FPS from Epic) it could be part of the Unreal universe... much like Halo was tied into Marathon.

IN!*

* the normal caveat applies where if I hear the game can be beat in a single sitting then it will then turn to OUT and become a Gamefly rental.
