As for the Vietnam games, can you imagine how much cooler they could be now with something like Crysis' jungle vegetation?

not sure i agree with the bit about the upgrades not enhancing the game.  i went back and played the demo on hard last night using the mp40 and k98.  the upgrades for the mp40 were very helpful.  a faster reload really helps early on, but the second is kickass.  a double size clip.  64 rounds of damage with a quick reload = bullet rain.  i see that being a very popular reason to use it mp, and if you can't swap weapons in mp, or get easy access to the german guns, it makes it much more enticing to play as the bad guys in mp.

i was actually bummed when the demo ended.  that doesn't happen all that often.

Does anyone know if these upgrades are going to carry over from mission to mission, or will you have to do it again on each level?

my guess based on the demo is that you would have to carry over the upgrades in the sp mode to ever reach the top upgrade.  i'd venture that your upgrades only last in mp as long as you are on that server.  maybe the achievement list could shed some light on that.

looks like it does in some form.
Weapon Virtuoso    40Upgrade all weapons in ranked matches

i like this one:

Human Flak Gun    5Kill an enemy player with a grenade while he is parachuting

it's at the top of my gamefly queue.

The thompson is a short-medium range weapon.  Use the iron sights and short bursts.  Also, once you get the grip upgrade it becomes much much more accurate.

I am glad this is the first game in recent memory that doesn't allow the Thompson to be a frigging sniper submachinegun of doom. Been so overpowered for years.

Really?  I think I get more headshots with the Thompson than I do with the Garand in this game.

Thats because of the nature of the spray and pray burst-more bullets come out, more chances for a headshot. It's like that for me in most games unless I am carefully sniping.

Proabably from volume of fire more than anything else.  slywink

So is this game good?

I mean, general talk has been positive here.  I've been looking for something to replace Call of Duty 2 for multiplayer gaming on my 360.

Does it support 4 player split screen?  I often have groups over, my friends, or kids of my parents dragged along to a parent's party and left with nothing to play but my video games.  So, 4 player anything is good for me, especially co-op.

good explanation, except I'm not doing spray & pray but controlled bursts, and alot of times only shooting a single bullet.

besides, I only do spray and pray in MP co-op games when other teammates are around  icon_twisted

Enjoying the single-player so far.  Made a big difference when I discovered that in this game, squeezing the trigger vs just pulling it can make a huge difference, especially with the sniper rifles.  Also helped when I figured out that you can adjust the zoom on some of the rifles.

Really, i've always found the Garand/Kar-98/Lee-Enfield to be far more accurate than every SMG in WW2 combat games i've played.

that's kind of odd and cool at the same time.  usually zoom is mapped to clicking the right thumbstick, which can get kind of annoying since I tend to end up clicking the damn thing while moving it, causing me to end up zoomed when I don't want to be.

Right trigger puts you into iron sights/zoom mode.  The d-pad controls the level of zoom on the scope, and it remembers that setting the next time you pull right trigger which is very nice.

has anyone actually got this game yet?,it came out friday just gone here in the UK,i will prolly pick it up today...even though there are only 12 players online, parachuting into an online match sounds great.....but you can get shot while parachuting

the average scores i am seeing is around 7.8...team xbox for one gave it that but gave the gameplay 8.1(7.8 overall)...innovation was what took the score down, because it does nothing revolutionary..and longetivity 3 difficulty settings

Even though I was hyping this game right up the wazoo prior to release, I decided not to pick it up, at least initially because the reports were that it was really absurdly short. Some people reported getting to the final (very fun and difficult) last level in literally 3-4 hours-thats just a bit too short for a game I likely won't replay. So I decided to either bite the bullet and rent it on 360 or wait till PC goes on good sale.

I've had it and gotten through the game on normal.  Hard to say how long it took me because I went back to various missions several times to play through a little differently, try to get some of the skill drops, level up weapons, etc.

The last mission is pretty decent, except for the very end of the level... that was extremely annoying.

I'd say it is a rental unless you really enjoy trying things from different angles and/or will play a lot of MP.

yep, that's enough to cause me to wait for it to hit $20 before buying it for the PC and no renting for me because I have no interest in playing it on the 360.

I have this one in-transit from GameFly, I'm actually glad that it's short because currently I'm working on Bioshock, and with Halo 3 looming I would really like to have my FPS log clear by that time.

then i will start with the impressions then shall i?,LOL

okay first of all...i'm talking 360 version, not PC,funnily enough the last game i played on my PC was call of duty 2

anyway

single player-well most of you played the demo,so not that much more to go on,except that achievements keep flying at me(the training level you get 3 goes to jump out of the plane....yup,theres 3 achievements)...running backwards from a grenade while no one was around got me an achievement(apparently i kicked it back in his face...even though he wasnt there...and the grenade killed me!!)

the missions are quite good and varied,if a little similar to every other WWII game out ther, but i knew that from the demos mission blowing up those big guns

you can level up your weapons,if you do good shots(which means..you guessed it,more achievements)....AI seems good at some points then just dumb at other points

i am currently on level 3,the levels are about 30 minutes tops(take note i have it on casual)...i heard there are only 6 levels, not sure if that is true though..but there are 3 difficulty settings...graphics are still quite impressive on the latter levels

multiplayer-i wasnt expecting much with this, but i have been playing for about 2 hrs online on the ranked matches
first the bad,lag..it happens,at the moment about 20% of my games have been laggy
6 maps in all,and the back of the xbox 360 box doesnt say content download
gerand online has totally been gimped, its nowhere good as the COD gerand...but thats okay, cos i play with other weapons

the good-maps are a decent size, not mega massive, but good enough, very detailed, and the graphics again are cool

achievements!!....6 maps right?...well play on all 6 maps ranked, and you get an achievement, get 10 points for your team..achievement!!...20 points,achievement....melee someone with the butt of your pistol in a ranked game..achievement...shoot some one out of the sky when they are prachuting...achievement...i think i have about 300 points and i have only had the game for about 5 hrs!!...EDIT: i just checked 265points from the game,20/46 achievements

apart from the problems,i have been enjoying online very much,a lot more than i thought....only thing though is there are no vehicles, but then the maps would have to be bigger

and i have heard EA are trying to release a patch for the lag...so who knows

teamxbox gave it 7.8.....which i think is about right...8 is proberbly max, depending how it goes i will finish single player and just play multiplayer all the time,i just wish there were more maps

the asking price IS a bit steep,so i would rent it if you can....even if its just for the achievements flying at you

The levels are taking me a lot longer than 30 minutes.  I think at least an hour.  And I think I played one of them on casual, too.  In fact, I usually think I've finished a level and then find out there are a whole load of other objectives open up.  'Course, I like to really explore and seek out nooks and crannies.  But I have found it's hard to rush forward.  I tend to get mowed down quickly when I do that.  On the other hand, if you hang back, they start tossing the potato mashers, forcing you forward.

I also had fun in MP, despite playing with morons.  No lag for me, but I think I only played with two groups.

I know most people will say "more of the same," but that's kind of what I like about the WWII setting, so I'm liking the game a lot.

Hey metal,

I know you like CoD3 multiplayer alot.  How would you compare MoH to CoD3?  I have been hearing good things about MoH's online play so far, but I'll wait for a price drop before I consider it.
