Not Officially announced,but OXM reckons its happening

A follow-up to the well-received Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is reportedly in the works at 343 Industries.

The studio's known to currently be finishing off work on Halo 4 ahead of the game's November release, but it's also at work on a secret - if not totally unexpected - project, according to the rumours page of the latest issue of OXM UK.
"Following the success of remake Halo Anniversary, 343 Industries has now started development of Halo 2 Anniversary," the magazine claims.

Does that mean they'll bring the Halo 2 servers back up?

If this proves to be true, my hopes for it is that they actually edit the story and cut down the entire length. Of all the Halo games, it's the only 1 I felt dragged on to an uneccessary length. And if they some how made the gravemind talking plant look like it did in Halo 3, that would be a major plus too.

Also,if the game is called 'Anniversary',then what?..we are expecting this in November 2014?...if that is what does happen,then next xbox?..or will this be for the 8 or 9 year anniversary?

I'm betting it will be a 360 game, as that would allow the CE Anniversary engine to be easily used for it. Of course there's alwasy the chance they could use it as debut title for the next Xbox, but I don't see that happening.

plus that would mean all the Halo games would run natively on the 360 without the need for backward compatibility.

343 'not currently working on Halo 2 Anniversary'

Asked if there was any chance we'll see Halo 2 HD before the end of this console generation, 343 reportedly said: "We are not working on that at this time. We are kind of busy."

IIRC, 343 didn't have much to do with Halo:CE Anniversary either... most of the work was done by a third party.
