Why are you getting money in Bioshock. It is the only thing that seems out of place in the demo. Are you able to purchase upgrades or weapons in the full  game, and if so, what? I taught everything will be scattered through out the world.

You can use it to buy off machines you can hack.  Instead playing the hacking mini-game you can just use cash to get a instant hack.  I'm sure there are other uses in the game as well

You'll find a way on your own someday. He's just trying to speed up the process.

I'm not thrilled with that collector figure so this LE doesn't hold much for me. A game tin would have been nice! I like my PDZ tin but never got around to the one for Gears.

At least Bioshock didn't ship in the ass-tastic cardboard folder ala Viva Pinata. As much as I love that game it's an eyesore on my game shelf.

Also, I thought the LE came in a tin case? frown

Okay, who bought this where, damnit! I want this game now!

this is a pic from a guy who works at eb/gs or has a friend who does.  they opened a copy and he took a few pics.  sad to say that this apparently doesn't get the tin box treatment.  makes the LE less cool.  he said the figure is cool and well made though.   sad news if the rumor about the OST is true.  apparently it only has a few songs on it.  if that's the case, then dumb dumb move and makes the figure the only standout for the LE.

still want the thing, but it is a bit annoying that the LE was chopped down.

The soundtrack does only have 3 tracks, but they total 45 minutes in length.

But no CE frown. Argh, what to do. What to do. It's as much about supporting Irrational than for the goodies, though the figuring looks awesome...

Supporting Irrational?  They are owned wholly by Take 2.  They ain't exactly the little indie who could and I'd guess that most of the additional profit made by inclusion of the extras coats Take 2's pockets.

The manager at my CC confirmed that Bioshock will be for $50.00 on release day. However the 360ver. will be $59.99. He was looking at some store promo list for next week for verification.

According to Cheapssgamer, it's $49.99 for the 360 version and $39.99 for the PC version- ie $10 off both versions.  So it's definitely a sale.

I've got my copy preordered from Liongames.com.  They had a preorder deal on this and a few others (including Halo 3 and Mass Effect) for $40 each.  With shipping, I think I'm paying $46 for mine.  And if I want it on launch day and it turns out it won't get here for then, I can always buy it at GS and return the preordered copy! Hooray!

This game never even appeared on my radar, and now all of a sudden it's looking like a potential Game of the Year candidate.   icon_eek

I had zero intentions of picking it up, but when my 360 shows up I'm going to download the demo immediately.  I've got to see what all of the buzz is about.  If I can get past the creepiness factor it just may wind up in my gaming library.  Damn all of you and the blasted GT forum effect.

It's been a potential GOTY candidate ever since it was announced that Irrational would be making a spiritual successor to System Shock 2.

Since I've never even heard of System Shock 2 I had no idea what the pre-release anticipation was all about.  It didn't sound like anything I would be interested in.  But, with such high reviews I'm at least now going to have to give it a look.

The demo was fun Pete and the graphics, especially the water, are a site to behold.  Unlike most others here I wasn't floored by the demo.  It was fun but the whole theme/setting didn't click with me.  I played the demo through a few times to see if I was missing something.  But each time it just did not click.  The Plasmid thing seems so out of place.  It is creepy but it's not going to scare you Pete.  You'll be fine as long as you have a pamper Pete day at the salon prior to playing the demo.  Or you can have J sit next to you and hold your hand or have her play and you watch since she has more guts than you.  icon_razz  icon_wink

+1000 to whoever at 2k or Irrational is responsible for Bioshock getting released so early so it can really hog the spotlight until the rest of the heavy hitters come up to bat.  Right now it has a chance to be huge, but with a later release it might've been tragically overlooked.  I for one didn't have much more than a passing interest until I tried that demo.

LOL,i just found this(a friend sent it to me)....it made me laugh, its a review on Bioshock, done by the Sony Defense Force...it ill's me to think they cant even give it a decent score and say...'you know what, its a good game'

http://www.sonydefenseforce.com/?p=83

Quote
After many months of anticipation I finally got my copy of Bioshock and played through it over the past few days. There are many things to like about Bioshock such as the graphics (not animation), parts of the story and the water effects. That’s about where the good stuff ends.

First let me say how excited I was for the game after playing the demo on the 360. While the animation seemed stiff and you could tell the 360 was being pushed too hard it still looked like it had a lot of potential. So imagine my disappointment when I got the final version only to find none of the animation hitches, shooting glitches and AI was cleaned up. I also wonder how much better the graphics would’ve been had they not been compressed to fit on a DVD. Now I do not fault the developers for this, they only had so much system power to work with so maybe this will all be addressed with the PS3 version when it comes out.

To conclude, let this game cook in the oven just a little bit longer and wait for the superior PS3 version. Cleaned up textures, animations, AI, extra weapons, Home space, standard HDD and Blu-ray will make this flawed game into a perfect gem.

SDF Score: 5/10

scares me into thinking how many people listen to these, people should stick to unbiased reviews on unbiased gaming sites...like Gaming Trend slywink nod icon_biggrin

P.S. i know i have only played the demo up to now,but even if i think its bad when i do purchase it,i still cant see it being as bad as a 5/10...and i think that the replies on that page speak for themselves aswell
