Dude, I understand the story. I understand what their "point" is supposed to be. We don't always need the Captain Obvious statements. My point is that Ayn Rand sucks, and I am doubting that there is any real influence in Bioshock beyond the superficial.

Cal, that may be obvious to you but to other posters who don't follow Bioshock probably don't know that. Hence why this whole discussion of Ayn Rand got started in the first place.

I don't recall anyone quoting the "genius" of the Illuminati books as a basis for how the world works. Unlike anything Rand wrote, it never puts on airs of being anything other than entertaining fiction (well, the end did kind of suck: I was hoping for more of a payoff, but oh well).
Probably because nothing Rand wrote is even entertaining, or interesting. Pretentious, sure, but that's about it. But hey, some people love pseudo-intellectual rationales for being totally self-absorbed and sociopathic assholes. As for me... there are more interesting things to spend time reading. Like the label on my shampoo bottle.

Ayn Rand is dead, So put down your pen, A whole new generation, Who pointlessly defend, Ayn Rand is dead, And I can not pretend, To embrace a greed, Of unnatural stipend
An individual's individual, So scared that you've turned cynical, An individual's individual, So scared that you've turned cynical, You've turned cynical
Ayn Rand is dead, But she walks again, 'Til every river dies polluted, She is the undead, Ayn Rand is dead, But she wants revenge, History will march and die, Just like her in the end
An individual's individual, So scared that you've turned cynical, An individual's individual, So scared that you've turned cynical, You've turned cynical
Ayn Rand is dead, Ayn Rand is dead, Ayn Rand is dead, Ayn Rand is dead

Delayed to '08. Well... I wouldn't be surprised if it is. Most years I'm always dissapointed when things get delayed around the holidays... this year there are just too many games... so a couple can slip...

I just paid off the balance on my pre-order from Liongames.com. Let's hope they're reputable. The majority vote on cheapassgamer.com is that they are. at a pre-order price of 39.99, i couldn't resist trying them at least once.

I just saw a video that had the minor spoilers, but laid to rest the last of my worries about the game, so it was a decent trade off.
The last thing I was worried about was while they were talking about the game they'd mention how the AI would only react in certain ways to situations. Specifically splicers would never attack big daddys and such. In the video, they clearly state that it's somewhat randomized based on environmental factors. I was worried that this was going to be a game where the AI always attacked you and only you. Whereas now they've confirmed that the AI will attack each other in both scripted and non scripted sequences, attack big daddys to get to the little sister, and various interactions between that. I also saw a scene where there was, if not a friendly splicer, than a neutral one that was drinking some water and talking to you.
Another cool thing that was mentioned in an article, was that Ken Levine wasn't objecting to the multiplayer and co-op, it's just that it was way too late into the game development that he realized multiplayer would be a very cool thing to do. He's interested, but it'll have to be for Bioshock 2. And even though I haven't played the game yet, we all know there'll be a Bioshock 2.

I think I may do that for the PC edition.
Oh wait, scratch that. Two Worlds is also due on the same day so the extra 10 bucks would be better served going towards that.

damn that sounds interesting. i do like hardbound books and the like for cool games, but i also really like having gaming figures. as long as they aren't the size of the ordinator, it's ok. i'm suprised that the little guy hasn't been broken or bent by now. he stands right next to the 3 pack from prey and the nod soldier from c&c2. now that's the proper way to make a figure.
i'm not sure i'll even pick up two worlds just yet. i was really hoping to play that with a buddy, but he's decided to hold off until gta iv to get an xbox. he'll probably pick up the pc version instead.

Did the same thing. How can you beat that price. Hell, that is the price 3 months out, at least. Way too many people have had zero problems with that site. We're good. I even paid 1.50 extra for priority shipping. So, I get it 2 days after launch. As long as I have it by that weekend, I'm good, as I never play much but on weekends anyway. Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bioshock suprise announcement this sunday http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=169860well,we know that its an off line game,so whetehr they have been able to squeeze in a deathmatch or two....meh then what could it be??? There's only two weeks until its 360 / PC release but apparently we don't quite know everything there is to know about Bioshock. Irrational Games is set to make a surprise Bioshock announcement on US telly this weekend, alongside a brand new trailer. "You won't want to miss this!," US tv show Game head promises.
perhaps because of it going gold, the go ahead for a sequel is now on the cards
