This is the USB memory support update. Has anyone thought of some real world uses for this new function? Aside from backing up things like save games and other content. Is it just so you can be really, really sure of that ME2 save game?

Is it just so you can be really, really sure of that ME2 save game? It allows you to use pretty much any USB hard drive or flash drive as an additional memory device. You can only use 16 GB of it, but you can use two at a time. Before this, the only way of increasing storage space was to buy one of MS's absurdly overpriced hard drives. For people like me with 20 GB 360s, this is great.

Yuppers. Just make sure you don't buy this one or this one instead of hitting, say, Newegg for your extra storage place. Go go in-store markup of goods.

I bought this one for $34 and it works great. The only problem is it's too wide to fit in the rear USB slot so it's in the front one. No biggie for me as have a wired controller in the back one anyway.

I'm glad they finally did what I have been screaming for, but I wish they had allowed us to use more than 16GB per drive.

Does anyone know if you can copy things from the HD to the USB stick? I have all of RB1's songs exported to the HD but I play Rock Band maybe once every three months now so I would love to move all of my RB1 songs over to a USB stick and just pop it in when I want to play. My 20 GB HD is almost maxed and I no longer have the RB1 discs.
As an extension, I'm assuming if you can do it for RB1 then I can move ALL of my RB DLC over to the stick?

Just tested this using an external hard drive; It looks like you can use any remaining space towards audio and video without it counting towards the 16GB limit.

pretty sure you can, isn't that the whole point of this and what we've all been talking about? be pretty worthless if you couldn't actually copy anything over to the new storage.

How long should this update take? I turned on my 360 and recieved the "do you want to update" message, hit yes and now it's just been sitting there doing nothing for about 30 minutes. The green progress bar has not moved at all.
