So now that our wallets have been lightened a bit with the glut of recent high-profile titles, what big releases are coming up in the next few quarters for the 360? What's the next big hype for?

GTA 4 sometime in the spring.

I think Halo Wars was originally targeted for spring but it's been so quiet on that front recently I don't think that's going to happen.

Rainbox 6: Vegas 2 in March.

Hopefully peope will mention some other stuff but right now the first half of the year is feeling more barren than usual.

I just hope that Alan Wake sees the light of day at some point.  It's starting to feel like Remedy learned a little too much under 3D Realms' tutelage.

Honestly can't say there's anything coming out that I have my eye on.  I'll probably try the Burnout game, but I doubt it'll be a day-one purchase.

Mercenaries 2, GTA 4, Burnout: Paradise, Viking: Battle for Asgard, Alan Wake, Too Human, Soul Calibur IV, MX vs ATV Untamed, Army of Two< Battlefield: Bad Company...there are plenty to look forward to, but many are multi-platform and some may not come out very soon.

Did Microsoft blow its wad? Do they have any upcoming exclusives that even approach the level of hype of Halo 3 or Mass Effect?

They don't have as many huge exclusives in the immediate future, but there's Alan Wake, Too Human, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Halo Wars, Lost Odyssey and the rumored Banjo Kazooie game.

I played the demo for Conan, and it just wasn't anything like I thought it would be.  The combat was over-simplistic, the animations were stiff, etc.  I was looking forward to it until I played that demo.  frown

I think he means the MMO...is that coming out for the 360, too?

and yes the demo for the action game that just came out was pretty terrible - if it were made by the same people that are doing the mmo i would have been out right there - but thankfully, it isnt

I don't know for sure, but on Funcom's Conan website there's no mention of a 360 version at all and the FAQ's mention somewhere that it's only planned for the PC. I was surprised when I checked it out a few months back, as based upon posts I've read here I was under the impression that is was a 360 release too.

I am really excited about the next Midnight Club game as the wife and I really loved #3 for the PS2.

I have mixed feelings about Too Human. On the one hand I want it to be great due to my complete and utter love of Silicon Knights. On the other hand I can't help but wonder that if it bombed utterly, would they consider going to Nintendo and start talking about an Eternal Darkness sequel for the Wii? I would piss myself with pleasure if that were announced!

They aren't exactly tied at the hip to MS these days- they are also working on an unannounced title for Sega so if they wanted to be working with Nintendo again I'm sure they could.  Personally, between the delays and bad press on Too Human and the rather embarrassing lawsuit between two of their own second parties, I suspect MS is this close to jettisoning it they way they did Psychonauts and Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath.

Yeah I know SK is an independent developer, but Too Human seems to be their baby now, and I can't help but think an ED sequel would be more likely with Too Human crapping out (as opposed to not likely as things stand now). But, I also have this odd belief that Too Human could be awesome - even with evidence to the contrary.

I know that gaming is plagued with too many sequels, but it seems like most of the games I want are sequels not being made... Thief, System Shock (sorry Bioshock - while great - doesn't count to me), Ultima, Eternal Darkness, Beyond Good and Evil, etc. Hell now I have to add Assassin's Creed to the list! smile

AC sequel is pretty much a certainty- evidently it did really well it's first week (Ubi is saying one million though I suspect that's worldwide not domestic) so expect AC2 in March 2009.

Yeah I figured an AC sequel was inevitable - it's been marketed a lot, so I expect the sales will be fine or better. I don't know about March 2009 though. SCREW THAT. Don't touch the engine, just add more content. Get it out quicker! smile
