I've pretty much been a lurker here for a long time and I just wanted to take a moment to say that I've been gaming for the last fifteen years and I still think back fondly to all of the posts Hetz was making for MW when it came out. Hell, I HAD to get it because of his enthusiasm.

And now, with a HUGE smile on my face it is happening again. Bethesda owes him. Period.

Now, do I run it on my PC or get an X360 for it....Hmm.....

Thanks Hetz,

Oh and now Gamespot has changed it to Monday from 6PM to 6AM Tuesday for the 12 hour marathon.

Bethesda PR must have laid the smackdown on it for this weekend....

Personally, I thank Bethesda for this decision. I also think it is stupid for these game sites to have "live feed marathon sessions". Umm, game is comming out in a few days. I really do not want to spoil the first 12 hours.
If they want to show a marathon session when the game is released, fine.

Does anyone know what the official, don't get fined, street date is? There seems to be some confusion of wether the stores can even sell the game on the 20th.

As much as I want this game, I think I'm going to hold off.  For one, I have a LOT OF GAMES I haven't played yet.

For another, one of them is Morrowind. biggrin

The 20th.

Best Buy, Wal-Mart, EB and Gamestop are all selling it on that day (yes I called all of them, well Gamestop called me and told me, but the rest I called). In fact, Best Buy has in the back right now, but they won't put it on shelves until the 20th (direct quote from the Media Manager).

Of course, YMMV if you have a store that is managed by not so bright people.

Funny the 30 sec movies make waiting more bearable for me. A little taste to look forward to every day. Seems they are hugely popular. Hetz I hope you are right. Here in Chicago the BB's said the 21st early last week. I have a ton of computer stores to try Monday though. Of course unlucky me had to schedule my tax visit with my cpa monday night. This was long before the game went gold. Wonder how late I can stay up at night adjusting sliders. How sweet it would be to set it to max and let fly!

Does this mean the various sites will have their benchmark stuff up on Monday? I've forgotten how soon that stuff all went up for FEAR, HL2, and Doom3. It would be fun to look at while stuck at work waiting to get home.

Graphics are stunning, especially when you get out of the sewer. The race I chose was a dark elf with skill bonuses in athletics, blade, blunt, destruction, light armour, marksman and mysticism.

I think the computer they used had a video card that lacked SM3.0 and stuff. No HDR or Face shadows and whatnot. So basically everything is low quality.  biggrin That is assuming of course that the images are the same images I saw in another thread.

Yep, and the official site is already down. (NM, it's up again.)

This is seeming to be one of the biggest game releases ever in the states.

I came so close to getting it today.

First I went to Target. The guy in the electronics section went to the back to see if they had any copies, but they hadn't arrived yet.

Then I went to Best Buy. They checked their stock information to see if they had any copies in. Unfortunately they didn't (though the computer indicated that 42 copies of the 360 non-CE version were on their way). Interstingly enough, though, the store clerk told me that there was no street date for the 360 version (though there was for the PC version  :? ) listed in their computer. So if they had the game in stock, he would've sold it to me. Damn!  :x

Great clip, thanks Kathode.  I recognized a few voices.  The guy who does the Redguard VO has a distinctive voice, hard to forget from MW.  Did you have a lot of the MW voice cast return for Oblivion to do NPCs?

A couple of other observations:
- The dark elf male looked very cool, especially with the lighting on the face
- Brother Martin looks like he's been to Oblivion and back again, reminds me of the great new priest character from BSG.  Great voice acting for him too.  Anyone we'd know?
- I liked the look of the Orc, not too crazy fantasy, and not too human-like either.
- Was the first lady in the clip a Nord?
-  I heard a rumor you're an idiot.  Any truth to that? - That cracked me up.  Nice touch.

I haven't been able to see any big facial differences from the screenshots between Nords, Bretons and Imperials.  I'm guessing the hair choices would be different?

Don't worry, Destructor - I saved us all... I did not go to the site due to a sense of selfless and heroic  self-denial - in order that the rest of the Forum would not suffer.

Oh, and I have a really old, pitiful laptop.  Just an aside...

The anticipation of this game is nuts. Period.

As stated in another thread, I worked out a guess of some 50,000 movie downloads on GT's server. It's just crazy.

And I'm glad to be a part of it. biggrin

Anyway, as for the latest movie - is that Linda Carter playing the female at the start of the video? The last is (obviously) Patrick Stewart, but am I right on the first?

Kept a few, changed a few.  Don't remember exactly which ones.  Michael Mack (redguard guy) is awesome.  He was Cyrus in Redguard, too.  He was also the protagonist in Unreal 2.  Other than the "names", the cast are local DC-area actors.

Any chance there will be a demo for the PC version?  I'm close to the minimum requirements, and I'm not willing to risk it without playing a demo first.

Just to doublecheck and to clear up some confusion going on at the main forums I want to ask a very important question.

Can you invert the Y-Axis?

I can't play any game unless down = up and up = down. Well I can, but it is cumbersome for me.
