There has been quite a bit of conflicting information about this. Some people are saying their EB/Gamestop are telling them Monday (like mine said) others are saying they can't sell it until Tuesday.

Yeah, it's probabily a good idea to stay away from the official forum for a bit, if you don't want the game spoiled for you.

My guide will be here this afternoon. I'm not going to read anything about the main quest or most of the other quests, but I do plan to check out the city maps/world maps and general info on the game.

If any of you have any questions for me, Ill do my best to answer them when I get the guide in the next couple hours....as long as it is not about the main quest.

i'm sorry, i know it's a bummer for those who are looking forward to facing the game fresh, but that guy is so incredibly pathetic that you just have to laugh at his actions...  

i mean, think about it.  the guy's sitting at home with an open strategy guide in his lap, frantically opening threads so that he can write up spoilers for the game, all the while muttering to himself, "Take THAT, bethesda!" .

Well, my Guide just arrived.

There are tons of new screenshots in it and of course a wealth of new info. If you have any questions (not involving specific quests, cause I am not reading that part of the book) feel free to ask!

Oh and Imperial City looks freaking huge. There are 10 Districts to the city, ie (Elven Gardens, Market District, Waterfront) each one with 20-30+ houses and points of interest.

Yeah, the armor and weapons really look amazing.

Here are a couple notes on the guide:

It's written by the game guy that did the Morrowind one, but I think it is much more informative this time around. For example:  In Morrowinds guide it just had 2 pages of info (really just tables from the manual) on the races/stats and then basicly no guidance on skills at all. It also had no info on the spells in the game or anything like that. It was alright as a walkthrough, but there was NO STRATEGY at all included in the STRATEGY guide.


This new guide has 68 pages of pure STRATEGY on races/skills/spells, combat/magic/stealth etc.....lots and lots of non-spoiler info that is really helpful, before they even talk about any quests.  They layout several builds of characters and discuss what is good bad about each one. It also has a ton of great new color screenshots and great maps.

It is MUCH MUCH MUCH better than the Morrowind guide. it still has the same humor of the Morrowind guide/walkthrough...but it's just fleshed out SO MUCH MORE. It's a very nice guide.

As Hetz said, the guide is pretty good. I am not reading the quest section, but I have read a good portion of the character creation/strategy part. Very informative, especially the parts on the rules of making a character and the birth signs. If you want to power game, it tells you how to do it, but it does remind you that half the fun is in the role-playing.

So far it looks to be worth the money, especially if you can't wait for the games release.

Here is a tidbit about "Adventurers" that you meet during the game from the guide...these are not major spoilers, but I just thought I would use the Spoiler tag in case.

Spoiler for Hiden:

In 16 Dungeons you have a small chance of enountering a random adventurer. He generated when you enter the dungeon and he is always an Orc 2 levels below your own. He is usually a warrior, but may be a battlemage or spellsword. You don't have to kill him and he is not hostile. They don't sleep and they never leave the dungeon. Every 4 hours they embark on a 2 hour search for loot.

Cool tidbit about talks at the Arcane University.

Also, there are lectures at the Arcane University campus! You can attend a lecture series on Doomstones (shown in one of the pics so far, the stone with the red lettering) after you have made the Apprentice rank of the Mage Guild. The students start to gather on the benches outside the Praxographical Center a little after 9AM and 3PM and the talks are offered at 10AM and 4PM, daily - weather you are there or not. There are five talks in this series of lectures with one chosen at random each day, so it may take awhile to hear all five.

There is lots of other REALLY cool stuff that I haven't heard anyone talk about yet (dev or not) and this game looks to be amazingly HUGE!

Getting 100 pre-orders is a pretty big accomplishment, but is not really as big a deal as it used to be.  Most GameStops get 5-10 titles a year at that level or above.
