Windows 8 Halo theme please. Tongue

Looks like 343 isn't just pushing out YAHG (yet another Halo Game).

I look forward to it.
Nah, W7 instead!

Looking good so far. My brother and I just went through all games except 'Wars' (never tried it yet) and loved almost every minute of them. Looking forward to more.

Halo Wars:I suck at those kind of games, but i was enjoying it until an hour later i just kept getting owned everywhere,i will say this, that the cutscenes for Halo Wars were very nice

I still need to play through Anniversary, and with my Xbox 1 now dead,i guess i will have to use my 360 for Halo 2...or MS/343  could do a remake for that as well,so all Halo games would be on the 360  icon_biggrin
I expect a collectors set for the Xbox720. Tongue

The Halo2 one could have added gameplay, and a big sticker on the box that says "NOW WITH AN ENDING!!" slywink

If you've ever enjoyed a RTS and enjoy the Halo games, you owe it to yourself to play Halo Wars. As others have said the cutscenes in that game are outstanding and it has 1 of the best stories in any of the games. Its also quite easy as far as RTS's go - I should know, I'm quite sucktastic at them despite enjoying them.  icon_confused

I love what I see from the new trailer and screenshots. I watched the trailer with my son last night and he still hadn`t completely calmed down by this morning. smile  I`m someone who enjoys a good story in a shooter, so I`m very happy to hear that`s a being strongly considered for 4. slywink thumbsup

H2's ending didn't bother me so much as the anticlimax of it all. The pacing seemed off - they should have ended it after the boss fight instead... the trailing off to MC hitchhiking to earth kinda made you feel like there was another level coming.

How are they ditching Firefight for 4-player campaign co-op when they've had that since day 1; albeit sys-link only for the original Halo CE. Certainly they don't mean they'll now have 4-player co-op split-screen. Absolutely awesome if they do, but I highly doubt it. Spec-op sounds interesting and I'm looking forward to it.

Yup, I sort of figured this was the beginning of the next series. I expect 4, 5 and 6 will form a new trilogy similar to how 1-3 did. It'll be interesting to see if we get other subsidiary games like ODST and Reach along the way.

There will be new enemies.

Don't know why they labeled the gallery as concept art.  The first seven are in-game shots.

given that the game centers around the forerunners (who built all that halo stuff to wipe out the flood), I would expect the game to have the Flood in some form.

I liked the flood in H3, and perhaps H2. in H they were the zombie horde. Being able to burn corpses on the ground to prevent infection helped.

I personally believe the Flood are gone from the game now, but that could just be wishful thinking. As I said before in another thread, I don't think the games done with the Covenant yet. Being a theocracy comprised of multiple races there's still lots of possibilities with them. There's also still a number of halos out there and no doubt lots of other Forerunner tech / ruins for them to try and manipulate in the name of prophecy. slywink

Game Informer put up some of our concept art here-
http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2012/04/23/the-world-of-halo-4.aspx

Some of it is out there already, but I believe some of it is new.  We have a pretty badass team of concept artists.

Wow, I love the Forerunner installations/architecture in that art. With such awesome looking ruins, might this mean Master Chief might be up against some rewoken Forerunner android/simulacrum foes? Come on, throw me a digital bone here.  Tongue

Halo 2 is fully BC on the 360 and for the most part runs flawlessly - certainly much better than the original XBOX Halo CE. You just can't do any of the online mplay with it. If you're goal is to play it for the continuity of the story, my recommendation is to play it on the easiest difficulty as it really drags on otherwise. You can easily finnish it in an afternoon on that difficulty.

I forgot about that, thanks Kron...i have had bad experience with BC games on the 360(Fable,GTA:SA and KOTOR),but if what you say is right that it runs decent, then it will be time for a run through before this is released, and i have still to get back to my Halo:CE:A as well

Yeah, it runs better than the 3 games you listed. Actually all 3 of those are well known for their BC issues on the 360. IIRC Halo 2 used a new game engine and they built in support for the Havoc physics engine, both of which helped to make it more stable for BC on the 360.

So if I am a Halo n00b (I've had a 360 for six years now but never experienced the world of Halo) would it be fine to just read some wiki entries for Halo 1 and 2 to get the story and jump right into Halo 3? I'm thinking of catching up before Halo 4 comes out this year.

The answer to that will depend on which Halo fan you talk to. I presonally feel that the 1st (Halo Combat Evolved) game -especially after the Anniversary remake- is the best in the series. Some feel 3 is the best others Reach, while it's almost unanimous that 2 is the worst. I think you're missing out if you don't play Reach, CE and 3. The great thing about the anniversary remake of CE is that you can now play them in historical order -Reach > CE > 3- without taking a big step back in the quality of the graphics. The controls in CE Anniversay are still the original's, so they could feel a bit akward to a new player. Halo 3 ODST is a side game and not important to the story, and some would probably argue the same for Reach which is the prequel.

Otherwise, you can get much of the 1st trilogies story by reading the novels, but that's quite a few books to read. I'd actually recommend a wiki for Halo 2's story and there's also compact updates on Halo Waypoint.

There was an article on Variety magazine's website on Tuesday about an upcoming 5 part series of 15 minute cinematic shorts for Halo 4. They'll be hosted on the Machinima web site. They're to be aired in the weeks leading up to release (Nov. 6th) so we should start seeing these in the last week in September.

Quote
The company's Xbox gaming division is putting considerable coin behind "Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn," which will play exclusively on male-skewing entertainment website Machinima and online community Halo Waypoint in the weeks leading up to "Halo 4's" release Nov. 6.
...
"Forward Unto Dawn" will play out over five weekly installments, around 15 minutes each, telling an original story about the game's Master Chief and how he inspired a young UNSC cadet who will eventually become a leader aboard the UNSC Infinity spacecraft. Introduction of the new character will tie in with the plot of "Halo 4," while providing a flashback to the beginning of the "Halo" franchise's war between the humans and the evil Covenant.

Damn, considering that comprises 1-1/4 hours all strung together, that's a significant bit of viewing! slywink

Very cool and nice catch. The Watcher and Crawler look way too cool and I'm wondering if they're Convenant or some other alien civilization like Forerunner? The Crawler looks like its robotic or mechanized, so maybe a Forerunner guard that was designed to withstand the ages?

[Edit] I just noticed the 1/100 scale. I use 1/60  and 1/72 in my tabletops which correspond to 28-30mm and 25 mm size. Considering that 1/72 humans are almost too small to easily handle, a grunt that was in 1/100 would be extremely small. That's got me wondering if it's legit or a fake - anyone know if this scale is used by other McFarlane Halo figs?

If you look closer it seems like that 1/100 is for the other product listed there "Micro OPS".

Ah, Ok - didn't realise that was referring to another product line.

Spartan Soldier and Spartan Warrior.... MP figures or more Spartans in game?

The Halo Evolutions anthology contained a short story that featured Spartan head hunters. With the exception of the uber-talented, super-awesome Master Chief, they seemed more specialized than spartans in any of the games. Perhaps they're the Spartan Warriors and will be featured in the campaign.
