I'M the one that knocks! Now...burp me!

Picked this up last night and quickly got hooked on the tower's gate card game.  What a brilliant little time waster!  I honestly think it's mostly a luck game, so very minimal strategy involved from my viewpoint.

I tried the other 3 or 4 games included but kept going back to the card game.  The other games (especially the keystone game) are a bit more complex and I was short on time and patience last night.   icon_wink

I like the fact that you unlock the ability to bet more as you gain "gambler's ranks", which is just thresholds of money won that you have to surpass during your game time.

Anyone know if buying the pub games gets you a discount for the purchase amount on the retail version of Fable II, by the way?

I know you get the pub games free if you preorder fable 2.

I seem to be liking the Tower game the most, too.  I like the tournaments, I like how the unlocks are totally laid out for you...

Right now, Fable II Pub games are my new timewaster (then Geometry Wars 2)

I got my codes but forgot about grabbing the game last night as I finished up my Mass Effect PC playthrough and then tried out a beta.

Yeah, I got my codes on Tuesday but they weren't working yet so I will try out the games tonight and over the weekend.

I like how they are allowing you to have the cash rollover to the retail game.

yeah i got these last night, unfortunately the pre-order offer thing isnt available in my part of the world(some third world country they obviously havent heard off, even though they made the full game here,LOL)..so i had to pay the 800 points

only got to play about for an hour or so

Fortunes Tower-seems to be the one i am most addicted to..although i have adjusted my self to just banking the money as soon as i am have made profit,as otherwise i just run out of dosh

Keystone-is a bit random really,no real skill needed(apart from where to place yer bets),typical Casino style

Spinnerbox-seems to be decent, but again i can't really see any skill..apart from just pressing A(or whatever the button was)...this one will prolly be the least played

i have yet to play in a tourney, prolly get to that tonight

i think perhaps 400points would of been better pricing, although i have heard you can unlock new games, not sure if that means completely new games or what

these pub games are also in the Fable 2 games as well, obviously when you visit a pub....but i doubt there would be any refund or money off the full release

I hate Fortunes Tower, but so far that is the only one I tried
It seems to heavily favor losing then winning, but maybe I just suck at it

Finally got to play the games last night and I'm kinda glad I got them for free as the 'wow' factor wore off pretty quickly.  The spinner game is just too random even though it's the one game where I got the biggest payout so far (500 gold on one spin).  The Dice game is pretty 'meh', and seems to always come up the direct opposite of what I bet on.  The Tower game is alright, and like metallicoprhan I bank almost everytime I make a profit.  It doesn't seem that hard to get a jackpot, as the game merrily shows you when you bank early and proceeds to show how the rest of the game would have played.  I tried a tournament with the tower game, and found the best way to play is max out your bet.

On the bright side you're not stuck with alot of debt if you play poorly-  you can just reset your character and start fresh.  Personally I'm debating how much gold I really want to make before I get the game-  too much might spoil the fun of making your way in the world.

Keep in mind that if you reset your character, you lose all the game variations you unlocked with that character.

Now I know why I don't go to real casinos...I can't win shit.  I did have fun with Fortune's Tower, but ven if I bank 4 or 5 sets I seem to lose all of that and more in the next hand.

Not a fan of the dice game and the payouts are mostly crap.  I guess I still have one more game type to try out before I give up on winning money.  I'm very glad I got this/these as a free perk for preordering and didn't pay for them.

I've heard you need 10 million gold to buy everything in the game.

I was unimpressed with the whole idea when I first heard about the Pub Games, but then I remembered that I actually liked the game in KOTOR (pazak? something like that, I think.)

Since I know I'll be getting the game, I may as well pre-order it and get the Pub Games for free.  I'll have to force myself to play them if I think they are lame, but I can't let Metallicorphan enter the game with millions of gold, and me penniless!   icon_twisted

I think it would be a great move if this was an intentional "bug" that was put in the game, and if you had used it more than a handful of times it would add more and more evil to the character that you tie the gold to.  That way it reflects your actual actions when you don't know that it will directly affect your in-game character, unlike the concious decision of killing a virtual kitten or something.

RISE FROM THE GRAVE!!

Interesting...apparently the glitch in the pub game WAS intentional.

Quote
According to a quick blurb in IGN's Fable II preview, "Just be warned. Molyneux has said that the cheat was no accident and that those who used it to earn their money will be in for a surprise." Something tells us that "surprise" isn't being filthy rich in-game. Is he bluffing? We'll find out soon enough when our sea of coins is quickly drained from under us. Fable 2 is due out October 21.

Interesting. Quite interesting.

i personally believe that the intentional part is BS...i reckon they just cant patch it,so they have put something in the game of Fable II...even if it does do something really bad, other people will find out first, and then when another person hears what it is,then they just wont connect the character..or if they were smart they had one character for ligit one for cheating

what gets me is that i spent all night playing the damn game(my ears popped well into that session as well, and i couldnt hear anything but high pitched noise!!) only for a cheat to come out that makes it easier...and i have tried it,LOL(who hasnt)

Oh, great, lol!  I made my money by actually playing the games... until my thumbs started to complain, and complain quite loudly.  Then someone (name withheld to protect the guilty!) told me about the money-making thing.  I guessed at an amount of gold that would be good to start the game with, and yet not spoil it for me; I settled on 200k, since Peter M. said you could buy everything in the game for, now I forget, but I think it was something like 3 million (?).

So I used the "glitch" to finish off the rest of my gold, probably about 50k, to make it total 200k.  I do like one or two of the games, I wonder if I made another 200k the hard way, if all that will happen is that I get to start with that 200k - or 350k, if the extra 50k is removed due to the cheat.  Either way, Peter is just plain playing with us, lol.  Maybe, if it's a bad penalty, I'll write a letter to him, berating him for not making his game more accessible to the disabled!  Take that, Peter! You, you... able-bodied fiend!  icon_twisted

Good thing I'm playing Infinite Undiscovery now, or this would really bug me until Fable 2's release!

Oh, and Metal... I have principles you know!  I would kill your family, no problem... but dancing? OUT!  Tongue
