From my understanding, it is an additional quest that is not dependant on having first completed the game.

Eeep, you missed out.   Best Buy had just done a sale on a bunch of their games about 2-3 weeks ago, and Oblivion CE was going for something like 10 bucks.   I didn't end up going since I had most of the games they had listed, but given they were that cheap you might check out half.com or ebay for some people trying to flip 10 bucks and make 20 bucks.

i downloaded the patch ,and it added the 10 new achievements...now on my profile,instead of saying 100% done..it says 80%,and that really is bugging me...i wanna get those other achievements quick!!

the expansion is pretty damn big

i havent really got that far,and i have been playing it for about 2 hrs....just got to the gatekeeper

there are a lot of tunnles and secret undergrounds lairs that took me about 20-30 minutes to get out of,it was pretty big

i went one way,and everything is nice and pretty,and as i looked at the map ,i saw the size of it.....but i have yet to go the other way..(you get a choice of which way you wanna go,the other way is meant to be the darkside of things

Damn,  that's purty!  I'm debating whether or not to pick up my pre-order right away.  I only put 5 bucks down on it, but it would just dilute my time with STALKER.... 

Anyone know if the expansion breaks any of the mods like Franscesco Levelling one?  I was debating on installing that or just playing the vanilla Oblivion (ok, maybe with a few of the graphical mods- I'm sure my machine is more than capable of handling Quarls Texture Pack) but obviously if they didn't work with Shivering Isles than the choice would be easier.

Yeah, I had to go digging for my PC copy...been ages since I had it on the drive.......I was at Walmart this morning and had the 360 version in sight...........I thought, nah, this is crazy. I'll dig the PC version out, patch it and play it on low settings and save myself a few saw-bucks.

I got my 360 back from MS repair yesterday and downloaded SI.  Went to play today and the thing locks up while loading downloaded content.  Do I need the patch to play?  I didn't get a chance to try load the game last night.  Could that be the problem?

Very frustrating.  I was looking forward to spending all day playing.  Grrr.

I did try.  And the game locks up.  Looks like I'll have to re-download if it's not associated with the patch.

i am pissed off...i reloaded my save that was in shivering isles,and all my other download messages came up

i have inherited frostcrag spire..etc,and i didnt think anything about it,but later i went back to the original cyrodil and went to frostcrag spire...and its bare!!!...i furnished that place and everything!!...worse still i had a years gameing of items in the basement chests,that are now not there

i cant believe that i have lost everything,i am gutted to say the least

cant remember which are which(dementia..and mentia?)..i chose the nicest sounding one...perhaps i will go back one day and try the other door if you can

apparently you should save it when you come to choose which of the duke or dutchess quests you wanna see out until the end,as when you finish one,you can not finish the other...not sure of the details..i am just saving it in another file at the moment...its just that you cant get both achievements ,you have to choose...so see one out until the end,get the achievement,and then reload the past save file and see of the other quest and get that achievement....as i said though i dont know the details,so be careful

ok cool, I dont want to buy it again for the 360 just to play this but I think i will give it a try on the PS3 when i eventually get a PS3. I was going to play this until i finally gave in and started playing WOW so I am set for RPG for a while.

i lifted this from the elder scrolls forum about that achievement thing on the duke/duchess quests

you are instructed by sheog to become either the ruler of mania or demitia. save before you choose. then you can do one get the achievement. and then go back and do the other. so id reccomend saving before the choice then choose the one you dont want and do it till the achievement is unlocked then load the old save file and do the one you wanted.

I still have a long way to go in Oblivion, and I'm apprehensive about downloading Shivering Isles until I finish all of the quests in Oblivion.  Does anyone know if the Shivering Isles download effects the regular Oblivion storyline or if it is played as a separate game?  I'd hate to get sidetracked into SI storylines and adventures if I haven't even finished the original storyline and quests yet.  Does SI show up on the map as part of the regular Oblivion universe, or can I download it and still have my original Oblivion game in tact and then play SI when I get around to it?

Makes sense.  I've never played any sort of expansion pack before, and I never played Morrowind, so this is an entirely new thing for me, being able to download a new "world" for a game I already own.  Hell, I still haven't downloaded Knights of the Nine or any of the smaller side quests, either.  I really need to get back to playing.
