hmm,it's an XBL arcade game as well

seems there is Class4 as well
Quote
‘Class3′ is the codename for the ambitious zombie-survival open world game currently under development at Undead Labs for release as an Xbox LIVE Arcade title. ‘Class4′ is the codename for the subsequent zombie-survival online world game that we will develop by building on the Class3 platform. In other words, Class3 runs on your Xbox 360 and supports 1-2 players via Xbox LIVE or on the same screen, while Class4 will provide a much larger server-hosted world for thousands of simultaneous players

gonna keep my eye on this

apparently,this is still happening,found a new Q and A dated 10th February 2012

Undead Labs Q and A

just the first question is enough to make me excited still for this

Quote
Question from ‘Sorryaboutmyverbaldiarreah’: Will there be load screens when entering different regions (ex: a house) and will we be able to enter all buildings?

Class3 is a true open-world game, so conveying a sense of freedom and the joy of exploration is a core pillar of the game. We don’t want you debating whether the load time is a price worth paying for entering a building, so we’ve invested in the technology to allow the world to be seamless with no loading screens.

Whether all buildings could be entered was a significant debate early in the project. It takes a substantial amount of time to model the interiors of every building, of course, but more importantly, we don’t want to create a game that forces you to enter hundreds of mostly empty buildings to find the cool stuff. Ultimately we were able to solve both of these issues, so yes, you will be able to enter every building in the game, unless there is some visible reason why you shouldn’t be able to (e.g. it is collapsed, or burned out).

here is the Spy Cam footage, which gives you a sneak peak at Undead Labs studios and also some footage from the game
youtube-2minutes

video (motion screenshot)here of what the game looks like with the help of the CryENGINE 3
Youtube-50seconds

no release date yet but more news on Class 3 promised in the Spring

i would guess they will see how well Class 3 does before Class 4 gets into gear, but if they are still expecting Class 4 to be a proper MMO(or Online World Game as they call it),then i reckon it will be a next gen game,Class 4 would be a waste of time for the 360,IMO

Eurogamer have more info on this and a new Video(which i have put below,as it's Youtube)

Quote
Here's how it works; You begin the game as a preset character, but as you rescue other folks they can be recruited into your enclave. From there you can select any character in your group to play as. Each will have different stats and operate on a stamina meter. Play as one character for too long and they'll get exhausted or injured and you'll have to swap them for another.

"That's where a lot of the emergent strategy of the game comes in," says writer Travis Stout, who previously worked on Fallout: New Vegas. "Now the guy that's really good at fighting zombies is tired, so maybe for the next chunk of gameplay I should focus on building my base because I'm now playing as the guy who has the construction skill bonus."

Quote
"Some of them [bases] are in the middle of urban areas, which means it's great for finding supplies because there's a grocery store across the street and a hardware store down the block, but it also means that you're in the middle of zombie central. Some of the bases are out in the country and they're these big, sprawling farmhouses, which means you have a lot more room to expand, but it also means you're farther from the vital supplies that you need."

When asked if you could make any structure a base Stout explains, "You can make any structure an outpost, which is a temporary way-station that creates a safe area around the building and gives you a place where you can stop in and restock. In terms of an actual specific home base where all of your people hang out and you can build upgrades, there are specific locations." While he can't say an exact number, he says there "are a fair number of them."

Quote
Adding extra gravitas to the already ambitious concept is that every character has permadeath, so if they die once, that's it for them. As such, you likely won't be able to see how everyone's story plays out on a single playthrough. "You might miss the ultimate culmination of some guy's story if he dies 20 minutes in, but hey, that's what replays are for," says Stout.

The cast will consist of about 50 characters, though less than half of them have unique stories. The rest will be randomised NPCs, though Undead Labs claims that even these characters will have personalities, albeit less developed ones. "Everybody has a personality and everybody has some unique dialogue lines," notes Stout.

If one of the character that you are playing as dies, you will remain in the world as a Zombie

Yes we have MO,its June

New Trailer in the link
Quote
The open world allows for players to band together and build themselves a home. That lovely domicile will even have windows, which you can jump through in case of undead invasion. The trailer also spends a generous amount of time on vehicles, showcasing the different types of automobiles (and related carnage) available to players.

The team at Undead Labs seems to have a wonderful rapport with the community, having recently answered more than thirty questions posed by fans. In addition, there is a wealth of detail about the different elements that come together in State of Decay to create a more fleshed out model of a zombie apocalypse than we've seen before. June can't drag itself here soon enough, but at least you have our PAX East 2013 preview of the title to keep you occupied.

It will be interesting to see how a $20 game goes over now that XBLA is all but dead.

Is there any hint as to when the PC version will come out?  Soonish?

That's a good point, some people will now be buying XBLA games knowing that after 6 months they may never use it again, depending on how they switch to next gen and if they ever go back to last gen when that happens

OXM review - 8.0

They liked the open world with the scavenging gameplay and focus on noise as a way to get around stealthily, the mix of gameplay elements and upgrades and dropped points for the mediocre graphics and minimal story.

I can deal with the graphics issue as I'll be waiting until the pc version hits anyways and I can accept it when a game is shooting for the scope this has.  I don't need a grand story and find that in apoc games, it can be a detriment as much as it can help depending on how limiting it is on your actions.

Cool, after that review I'm definitely going to check it out.  Lack of a story doesn't bother me, and in an open world survival game i'd think dynamically generated missions would be a good thing.

I am a bit annoyed that the PC version is not in sight, but I may be fine with the XBLA version for now assuming the pop-in and performance isn't terrible.

it'll be interesting to see if they upgrade the PC versions graphics.  I suspect a good portion of the reason the graphics are only so so is that they had to get it under the size limit for an XBLA game.  still, gonna grab both versions to support this dev,

IGN liked it a lot.  8.9

Quote
THE VERDICT

State of Decay’s ambition reaches farther than most $60 titles, so its value is unquestionable as a $20 download – especially given how it manages to successfully meet so many of its lofty goals. I spent about 12 hours in this Zed-infested world, and while I saw most of what’s there, I could’ve spent a few more hours exploring. And since I focused on melee weapons the first time, I fully plan to start another game with a gun-centric character. Meanwhile, startup developer Undead Labs has already said that if State of Decay is successful, it hopes to follow it up with a massively multiplayer online sequel, codenamed “Class4.” But for now, Decay belongs in the pantheon of great modern zombie games alongside Valve’s Left 4 Dead series and Telltale’s Walking Dead episodes.

Yes, I'd also have to agree. My only complaint with the game is the tearing and occasional frame rate drop.
