and apparently, the XB versions will get a special mission.  Raiden against a base full of body Snatchers.  looks like a geek out playground mixing Revengeance and Kojima's earlier game, Snatcher.

That's interesting because that is at least a better exclusive than PS4's MGS1 Snake skin

Kojima: MGS5 on PS4 renders at 1080p and 60fps with room to spare

Quote
"I think, between the home consoles available in the domestic market, the PS4 is the best," Kojima said. "It's also excellent for graphics, being able to render 1080p at 60fps with room to spare."

"Since it does it a little better than other hardware, the image quality of the PS4 is the most beautiful. It's the closest to the photorealistic quality we are aiming at."

GameInformer has a 2 page interview with Hideo, its a good read

Big Boss is in a coma between Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain. However, Liquid Snake reveals in the first Metal Gear Solid that Big Boss was in a coma when the Les Enfants Terribles cloning program started, which was years earlier. How many times has Big Boss been in a coma?
There’s only once he’s in a coma, and to explain that you need to play towards the end of The Phantom Pain. There it will come together. You’ll be like “Oh, that’s what happened!”

I expect this will be part of either MS' conference today or during the Sony one later

30 minute E3 demo.

Damn, this looks awesome.  Love the options to go hot/silent how you want and how you improve Mother Base as you go along.  Seeing the world in action, I think this will be amazing.

20 minutes of new footage from TGS.  Jungle environment and using Quiet in a mission, plus some new abilities.

There's a cutscene after this mission ends and someone just transcribed it.  Note that it does have a bit of a spoiler-ish quality about Quiet, just in case you want to avoid it.  Either way, I recommend listening to the music in the background.  It's pretty nice.

Heh, guess not only can Japanese designers not stand having women with decent working clothes on, they can't stand them actually talking too.

Aw man, it sucked coming into this thread and seeing metallicorphan posting all over it and then realizing it was all old.   icon_frown

Anyway, from what I hear this is supposed to be a very non-standard Metal Gear Solid game, right?  More of an open world, tackle-it-how-you-want sort of deal?

Is there any hope of this being a fun stealth game for somebody like me who reeeeeeeeeeeeally couldn't give a shit about the story and cutscenes in an MGS game?  (and in fact finds those elements to be a huge turn off)

Considering that MGS games are all 90% cutscene, sometimes literally. You might want to look elsewhere.

That said, Ground Zeroes, while short, was actually pretty promising. It really was quite open and they change up the formula nicely, while still staying somewhat true. It's almost a better splinter cell game than the latest splinter cells have been, on an open base to boot.

There's aspects that make things easier or harder for the kind of gamer you are, and you can turn them off or choose not to use them. Tagging enemies far cry style is in, and you'll see them wherever they are through walls. However if you get spotted, you get reflex time where time slows down and you can pop off a headshot.

When the full game comes out, I'll probably play with all the helpers on since it just heightens the idea that Big Boss was a bad ass.

I'd totally recommend picking up GZ to see if you like the new style.  Turtle nails it on the head.  This plays a lot like Kojima's take on Splinter Cell.  Story wise, it won't make much sense, but if you are just going in for the gameplay, you can ignore the deeper reasons behind the character's actions.  GZ and PP are much darker games in their tone and have some pretty mature/graphic scenes.  There are some intentionally funny moments too, but it's mostly optional.

PP is going to have a large open world in at least two different environments, with missions that let you approach them in your own way and also reacts to your previous missions.  They've said that if you were seen to use silent headshots a lot, then the enemy would start using helmets.  They would beef up security if you hit them with force.  Add light if you were found sneaking through.    It makes the game a lot more logical than simply moving through a linear campaign structure.
