[360,PS3] MGS5: The Phantom Pain

there has also been speculation that it's a metal gear game in disguise.  the lead character certainly bears a passing resemblance to big boss and the last thing you see makes it look like psycho mantis floating into the air with his arms spread wide pose.  

I first thought it was Liquid after he lost his arm at Shadow Moses, but that was the right arm, not the left.  

but according to the lore after MG1, Big Boss lost most of his limbs and had them replaced with some fancy prosthetics.

It's definitely a Kojima game.

You can also add that the lighting system, shaders, animation, and various other things are telltale signals of Kojima's new engine, albeit some rougher models than previously shown.

I think it's just Ground Zeroes stuff, but then again, that's already announced. Perhaps this just means Ground Zeroes is getting the name of MGS 5?

However, the tech level is also that of the ground zeroes time, instead of post MGS4 Solid Snake where Snake would be sporting a cyborg arm.

It could be another side game, weirdly enough, all about Big Boss after the mission where he loses his eye, and eventually meets the crew of people that are the bosses of Metal Gear Solid 1.

After all, they guy in bandages is probably Decoy Octopus.

Nobody seems to know who these Moby Dick Games are,the head of the studio Joakim Mogren,the first name is an anagram of Kojima and the second name has Ogre in it,as in Project Ogre

Even the guys at VGA said they have a lot of trailers to show and one will be cryptic..all the other trailers,Bioshock,Tomb Raider,The Last Of Us etc,seemed pretty straight forward

apparently everyone in the Konami VIP lounge were wearing Moby Dick Games T-Shirts(but i would be doing that if everyone thought it was us,just to tease  )

The Liquid Snake Theory is pretty good,but like you say its the wrong arm,however as with Ground Zero,Kojima was reversing a lot of the shots,and it would also explain the Union Flag on the wall,with Liquid being brought up in Britain and the youngest to join the S.A.S...but then again the character,also had a bandage over his eye,so i guess its unlikely to be that



white flower petals that featured at the end of MGS3


I love it when MGS game gets shown,there is always speculation on the net,Kojima is the best at doing that

thinking about the crawling along the floor,seems very MGS4 when old snake is crawling along the floor through the Microwave emitters(where you had to bash that X button)

I think that's the real question that people are asking now.

Because you can't have two games launching near the same times with the same main character.

some people are have said that when Hideo first did the teasers for MGS4 it was another 3 or so years until the game was out

also others have suggested that the line at the end "He has come to" which is said in a heavy accent so it sounds like "V has come too" is meaning that both games are on their way "V is coming too,as well as Ground Zeroes" 


People want to see a game with Solidus,because we hardly know about him...i wouldn't mind that,but would prefer Big Boss or Solid Snake(but i don't think i want another old man Snake)

Part of my post was a joke, but the "blah snake" are just code names for various people. Spoilers if you don't want to know parts of the other games:

Big Boss (who Solid Snake was cloned from) had the code name "Naked Snake" in MGS2. "Liquid Snake" is another clone of Big Boss who Solid fought in MGS1. His arm was cut off and sewed on to Revolver Ocelot, who started to act like Liquid. I haven't played more than the beginning of 4, so I don't know what happened to him yet. "Solidus Snake" is the president of the US, as revealed at the end of MGS2. It gets very silly.

well MGS3 was a prequel,so it's likely it wont be a sequel to MGS4,but more in between stuff he has been doing for the past few years,i personally want a remake of Metal Gear 1 and Metal Gear 2(not MGS 1 and MGS2)-ie: Solid Snake Vs Big Boss<<<that could be so fooookin' epic!!

I just saw this on Kotaku about Joakim N Mogren tweeting a lot,the twitter account picture was what made me Laugh

The funny thing is one of the pictures on that account is of his dinner,if anyone following Hideo on Twitter knows that is all the guy does- takes photos of his food

well its been another odd week for The Phantom Pain

First there was an interview with Moby Dick Studios CEO 'Joakim Mogren' who appeared all bandaged up,like one of the characters in the video trailer we saw late last year


and 'let slip' that the game is using the Fox Engine with some screenshots which had the Fox Engine logo on them,which secured a 'oh fuck' face from Joakim

However,according to that interview 'ALL' questions will be answered at the GDC,which runs from 25th March to 29th March,so not long to wait if true

anyway,today a new Black and White cryptic trailer has been released showing seemingly CCTV footage of some sort of medical procedure with Morse Code as its soundtrack which apparently translates as
 "Generating image hold scenario loading hold activate phantom pain dot meme hold error error error error"

Yeah i am wondering that as well,....CVG has a new topic up saying 'Metal Gear Solid V:The Phantom Pain',so that's the official title..no mention of the name Ground Zeros now,was that the working title,perhaps?


@Teggy,I am only reading the blog,CVG say it sounds like Kiefer Sutherland(not sure if serious or not...he has done video games before in COD:World At War)

Funnily enough David Hayter a few weeks back held a poll on his twitter account asking what people would think he didn't do the voice for Snake in a new MGS game...this makes me sad

MGS4 is still the end of the whole saga,this will be a sequel to Peace Walker....Numbers mean nothing now,LOL,after Metal Gear Solid 3 became the prequel to the whole saga

its good that its the guy in the bandages that sounds like Kiefer,however it still doesn't sound like David Hayter at the end of that trailer when Snake says "Diamond Dogs,our new home"

some people are speculating its because Solid Snake may be making an appearance,and it would be strange having David Hayter doing both voices(never been a problem before for me),but i can't see that happening in this game
