That's the teaser message at the Ensemble Studios website. I've been wondering what they were up to, since it's been quite a while since AoM : Titans was released. Hopefully, they'll reveal what their new game is tomorrow, and not have an 8-day countdown to nothing, like a certain RPG developer that shall remain nameless

Wait, was I supposed to be waiting for the next AoE game? I was too busy waiting for Half Life 2. Sorry, Ensemble.

Usually, that would be true, but it's been over a year since Titans was released. Presuming they were working on this new game even before Titans shipped, it's probably not too far off. My guess would be late next year.

Its Age of Empires 3 Yeah, I haven't read the article yet but the latest CGW has a blurb about AoE 3 on the cover.

Ensemble has updated their site with the words "2300 BC - Sargon I unifies Sumeria". Perhaps they're reviving the old chess game?

Sargon was the first person in recorded history to create an empire, or multi-ethnic state. His empire encompassed the region of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, and part of what is present-day Turkey. Ancient Sumeria was an egalitarian (classless) society where excessive wealth was prohibited. When abuse of power or wealth was exhibited, a court of representatives of the people was convened to judge the abuser. The vote for or against expulsion from society was cast anonymously on clay tablets (called ostraca by the Greeks, from which root our word ostracism arose). Well I think it is AOE3, but based on that second quote it sounds boring. :?

There seems to be some controversy over whether the quote means it will be an AoE remake set in ancient times -- or if new quotes will be added taking us up through history to the new era (presumably post-medieval).
I'd kind of like to see them go back to an ancient setting, personally.

If they do go farther up the timeline than they have previously, they have a whooole lot of work ahead of them if they want to do it better than Big Huge Games did with Rise of Nations.
I don't see anyone making a better game of that style anytime soon.

New update...
1200 BC - The Trojan War
So they are moving "upward" in time, but still ancient era. How many of these do they intend to do?

Well, it looks like the wait is actually almost over now. The latest message is "1995 - Ensemble Studios founded". Presumably, they're leading up to 2004 (or 2005) - Age of Empires 3 is revealed".

Ooh. Age of Ensemble. It's all about building a successful software company to crush your competition's RTS games.
