...at FilePlanet.

If anyone knows of a legitimate mirror, I'd sure love to give this a try!

My demo would not even install....when I ran setup.exe it would say that freedom force vs the third reich.msi was missing.....but it was'nt and when i would click that file it would say it could not be run directly and to run setup.exe...so screw it..buggy demo = crappy game so no loss.

there is a problem with the name of the msi file...

copy this and rename the Freedom Force blablabla.msi file to this:
Code:
Freedom Force® vs The 3rd Reich Demo.msi

I think the "circle R" character in the name got messed up in the zip file.

the game appears to be completely identical to FF in every way I could see, so you don't really need a demo if you played the original

I was just coming here to post the same thing about the mis-named file.

Speaking as a big fan of the original Freedom Force, it looks like this sequel is right up my alley.  I just had a little bit of time to play around with the demo, and I like the way the power interface has been streamlined -- the energy bar is now segmented so its easier to see how much energy a particular superpower will take.

I'll be interested to experiment more with the game.  One of the things that irked me about the original was how thrown objects seemed to have no sense of mass -- if you threw a car at an average thug, the car would actually bounce off of him like he was made of concrete.  It seems to me like if whacking someone with an automobile is going to bowl them over, the car's trajectory should be mostly unaffected....

That's a minor quibble, though -- I really dig the whole retro-comic motif of this series.  smile

OK.

For the retards among us (I am thinking of myself here), how do you angle the camera?  I can move it, zoom it, go cinematic with it, etc...  But I can't control the "pitch" of it.  I want a Diablo 2 sort of 3/4 isometric view with a big zoom out, and for the life of me, I can't figure out how to do it.

Thanks.

If you hold the 'Alt' button down, it'll let you rotate the camera.  I believe that, in addition to the zoom and pan controls, should let you position the camera how you want.

EDIT: Upon a second read, this won't help at all.  Unfortunately, I don't know if there's a way to control the camera's pitch independently of its height.

Fun demo.  The interface from the first game needed a little work and it seems like they really have a good version of it here.  I think the main portion of the action happens way to fast personally... I found myself pausing a lot and wishing I could just go through it at about half pace, but overall pretty cool.

That was my feelings when I played the first game...is there an option for slowing down the game speed in this one?

All the previews said the plyer could slow down time.

yeah but its done by pausing the game.   the options allows you to choose the speed of the game while in the pause state.   so i suppose if you where willing to give up the full on stop the motion pause, then you could slow pause setting down to half speed and play it like that the whole time.

I'm just a tad disappointed.  I loved the first, and this one does a good job of capturing the feel, but it seems like all of the new powers are ones that DR Mike 2000's Freedom Force X (opr whatever its called) mod did years ago.

If you didn't get in on the modding scene though, it looks like a good buy,

In other news, the Windows XP SP2 patch is available for the original Freedom Force:
