Origin Access Premier will be expanding EA’s subscription offering this summer

During EA’s E3 press conference, CEO Andrew Wilson got on stage and announced that they will be beefing up their streaming and subscription offerings on PC going forward with Origin Access Premier. They currently have EA Access on Xbox One and the regular Origin Access on PC that lets you download and play games from their back catalogue, but with Origin Access Premier, players will be able to play even their most current lineup of games. This includes, for the first time in over ten years, Madden on PC.

They did not mention if and when this service would make its way to Xbox One (or if it is ever destined for Sony’s platform), but they did say that they expect the upgraded service to launch sometime later this summer. In addition to Madden they also announced that players could expect to see Bioware’s Anthem, Battlefield V, and FIFA 19. It will also include continued access to their vault of older EA titles.

They announced this as part of a broader initiative to embrace streaming games in the future, so seemingly we can expect to see a more Netflix-like approach to games in the relatively near future from EA, but in the meantime Origin Access Premier is their step in that direction with a more robust and timely lineup of AAA games.

Currently their base service is priced at $4.99/month or $29.99/year and Origin Access Premier will be either $14.99/month or $99.99/year. It’s a fairly substantial jump in price, but as they start to add more and more new games to their library it is starting to sound like a much better deal.
