Far Cry 5 – Interview with The Father and The Writer

At a recent event for Far Cry 5, we sat down with Greg Bryk who plays Jacob Seed, better known as “The Father”, as well as Lead Writer Drew Holmes to talk about the process of bringing their protagonist to life.  Naturally there are some minor spoilers for the first few minutes of the game, but we spend more time breaking the fourth wall and talking about what it’s like to play a “true believer”.   If you missed the memo on what Far Cry 5 is about, here’s a snippet:

Far Cry comes to America in the latest installment of the award-winning franchise. Welcome to Hope County, Montana. This idyllic place is home to a community of freedom-loving people–and a fanatical doomsday cult known as The Project at Eden’s Gate. You are the hero of the story in a thrilling world that hits back with every punch and where the places you discover and the locals you ally with will shape your story in ways you’ll never see coming.

I’ve done a lot of interviews over the last 15 years, and very few have given me a shiver up my spine.  Greg Bryk’s performance, even during this short interview, is mesmerizing and something to behold.  If you thought Pagan Min and Vaas were the highlight of the series, there’s a new sheriff in town.
