Final Fantasy XIV release date announced

The team at Square Enix are almost ready to re-release the much-improved Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn – their Massively Multiplayer title that has been in Beta for a good amount of time. To give interested fans a chance to ask questions of the production team, they are also announcing an interactive Producer chat for the game. Producer & Director Naoki Yoshida will take questions via this thread at the official site prior to the 30th of this month and will answer them live on a to-be-announced YouTube feed. If you are interested in Beta Testing the game for yourself, they are also taking applications (it’s not Open Beta free-for-all quite yet) at this page as well. With a chance to try it on PS3, Windows PC, or both, this could be a pretty cool chance to take it for a spin prior to the relaunch. When is the relaunch you might ask? Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will launch on August 27th, 2013.

Watch_Dogs in-game profile contest

Watch_Dogs stands pretty high on our most-anticipated list this year, and we aren’t alone. Ubisoft has announced a new Watch_Dogs fan contest to give players a chance to be a part of the game. Since the game revolves deeply around scanning your enemies and uncovering their deepest and darkest secrets of their identities through all of their connected-world items, you can guess what’s next.

XSEED announces their E3 lineup

The expo may be a few weeks away, but our E3 coverage has very clearly begun. We’ve got our first game lineup, this one coming from XSEED, including the much anticipated KILLER IS DEAD from SUDA51. That’s not their only title though, they’ve got four sequels to some of their most celebrated franchises, namely Ragnarok Odyssey ACE, Rune Factory 4, Valhalla Knights 3, and Ys: Memories of Celceta. We’ve got our first descriptions for those games below for you to check em out. We’ve got an appointment to see all of these titles, so expect quite a bit more than just these paltry few sentences very soon. I’ve also got some sweet screenshots to show you for each of them, so…rock on!

The folks at ORIGIN PC (no affiliation with EA’s download service) aren’t wasting any time. No sooner was the new line of GeForce cards announced that the ORIGIN PC team had them in their rigs and ready to go! Dropping in the Kepler-powered GeForce GTX 780, the new systems should be absolutely blisteringly fast. The folks at Bungie are pretty fantastic at crafting games, but damn are they good at making incredible commercials to sell em! We’ve got a trailer called “Law of the Jungle” – a blend of CG and live-action to give us a taste of the universe for Destiny. Who directed the trailer? None other than Jon Favreau (Iron Man series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Identity Thief, Cowboys & Aliens, Zathura, Elf), and starring Giancarlo Esposito (Revolution, Once Upon a Time, Breaking Bad, and 141 other shows!) Forza Motorsport 5 debut trailer and screens

Microsoft was showing their best and brightest, and few stood as bright as long-standing franchise, Forza Motorsport 5. The Turn 10 product looked amazing – so amazing that we all wondered aloud if it could possibly be real. Given how fantastic the previous Forza titles looked, however, it was pretty clear that it likely is very real. We’ve got the video from the reveal event for you below, as well as a few screenshots of the game in action. The game is a launch title for the Xbox One, though we don’t know what that timeframe is quite yet. Here’s what we know about the game so far:

Crytek CryENGINE 3 support heads to Xbox One

Crytek is joining in the fray on the Xbox One support – they are already priming CryENGINE 3 for the new system. Given how hard the Crytek team pushes the engine, I have no doubt they are in fact eager for this newest generation. Some of the constraints on hardware have been greatly eased by the new hardware. Battlefield 4 coming to Xbox One. Also, pre-order bonuses

EA is jumping in on the obvious train as well – they are announcing that Battlefield 4 will also hit on the Xbox One. They are also announcing that you can pick up the “China Rising” expansion pack if you pre-order. Available on October 29th on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC, the game doesn’t have a release date for the two new consoles as we don’t have a release date for that hardware yet. We’ve seen a little bit of footage on Battlefield 4, so let’s hone in on the China Rising pack. Here’s a nibble:

Ubisoft states the obvious – Xbox One support

We had to know this was coming right? Ubisoft is announcing that that unnamed “next gen” platform they kept mentioning at the bottom of all of their recent announcements. Turns out it’s not a new Dreamcast, it’s actually the Xbox One. I kid, but at least it’s official. They are announcing that Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, Watch Dogs, and “at least” six next-gen games will be released in the first year. You’d have to be completely blind to have missed out on all of the great footage we’ve provided on the two aforementioned titles, so instead let’s hear what CEO of Ubisoft has to say on the platform:

Splinter Cell Blacklist sneaks up on us with a co-op trailer and screens

New HARDWARE: Shipbreakers Trailer Reveals the Armored Titan Baserunner

The team at Blackbird Interactive (a team comprised of the original creators of Homeworld and Homeworld 2) wants to show off the Baserunner – a massive truck in their upcoming RTS HARDWARE: Shipbreakers. The Baserunner serves as an armored transport vehicle (or as us .mil folks would say, an “Ass hauler”) for the ground fleet. The trailer also goes over how this vehicle is used, but also goes over some of the lore and the art style that is going into the game.
