Backing something on Kickstarter can be a risky proposition. You never know what will come out from it, as our first impressions of Star Command have shown. However, the idea of combining a MMORPG and a TCG must be very popular. Cryptozoic has announced that their Kickstarter for HEX: Shards of Fate is fully-funded after five days.

Guardians Chronicles from Iello on Kickstarter now

While there are plenty of fantasy board games out there, the number of superhero-based ones is fairly limited. While Legendary and the DC Deck Building Game have recently come out, there haven’t been many besides Sentinels of the Multiverse and the long out of print Marvel Heroes. That’s why I’m happy to report that Iello has posted a new Kickstarter for their game Guardians Chronicles, a semi-cooperative game. One person plays as the villian while the other characters attempt to thwart his plans.

Cryptozoic starts Kickstarter for new HEX: Shards of Fate MMOCCG

Cryptozoic currently publishes the World of Warcraft trading card game. While they have been publishing this for a few years, they have several other card games under their belt as well, including the Penny Arcade deck-building game. Now they have announced thay are going to try to move a brand new CCG into the MMO arena with HEX: Shards of Fate.

Magic 2014 brings sealed deck play and Slivers

While Magic is a great game to play in person, the recent electronic implementations of the game have made virtual card throwing as close to the real thing as possible. Every year Wizards of the Coast brings an update to the Duels of the Planeswalkers, and this year is no different. The new features coming this year should be exciting to those who play competitively: Slivers and sealed deck play.

Conquest of Kumanjaro expansion announced for Mage Wars

Mage Wars is an excellent strategy game for two players. While it comes with four different mages in the original box and two extra mages in the expansion, Arcane Wonders is changing things up with their newly announced expansion Conquest of Kumanjaro. The new Spell Tome expansion includes two alternate mages for the Priest and Beastmaster.

One of my favorite games to play is Heroscape. The way the characters from all different universes, from modern to ancient, fantasy to science fiction, worked surprisingly well. The problem was the fact that it could take a long time to set up and play. Now Heroscape is out of print, but new games are coming out that feature mini-skirmishes that don’t have the complex setup and pre-formed armies so that they can play in thirty minutes. I recently found out about Torn Armor and was able to ask eight questions to Alyssa Faden, creator of Torn Armor.

Shin Megami Tensei IV coming to the Nintendo 3DS

Playdek and Stone Blade announce plans of Ascension iOS support

The first Playdek game I played on the iOS was Ascension. I don’t know how many games I’ve played, but it plays fast and the expansions add even more cards and new rules that enhance the experience. Now Playdek and Stone Blade have announced that they plan to support Ascension on the iOS for at least the next year.

If you don’t know PAGvE is, it’s a deck building game. It is rather a simple one, but the Playdek implementation works very well.
