Telltale releases first screenshots of The Walking Dead’s third season

To celebrate San Diego Comic Con this week, Telltale joined Skybound, publisher of The Walking Dead comic, to release new screenshots of the upcoming third season of The Walking Dead. These new images showcase a grown-up Clementine, her companion, Javier, and young AJ, who returning players will remember as Rebecca’s son from Season Two.

Despite being the third season in the franchise, and being part of a series that focuses on the choices players made in previous installments, Telltale has said that this newest season is a great point for new players to jump into the series.  AJ, being a child born and raised in the apocalypse, provides a great reason to explain Clementine’s story to new players, while also continuing the story on the path set by returning player’s decisions.

Lastly, newcomer Javier will act as the game’s second playable character.  Telltale has yet to reveal much about him, other than that he’s struggling to keep his family together in a world gone mad.  The studio also said that players wouldn’t always be controlling both characters at the same time, which would provide them with the interesting opportunity to finally meet Clementine through another person’s eyes, and see how she’s changed due to their actions.

The Walking Dead Season 3 will premiere this fall, and will be available on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows, and Mac.  For more on The Walking Dead, check out our reviews of seasons one and two.
